Could Congressional Democrats propose an anti-gerrymandering amendmant? |
|
I'm sick and tired of seeing congressional gerrymandering make the House non-competive, and I hate it when either party resorts to gerrymandering. Is there anyone in Congress willing to introduce a bill, or even a Constitutional amendmant prohibiting geryymandering for the purpose of stifling political competition?

1. Both parties usually gerrymander themselves into a minor |
|
party. This is why Democrats have tried not to gerrymander. Gerrymandering dilutes power.

even allowed into the rooms when legislation is written. What would be accomplished by them making such a play.

Something needs to be done to get rid of these 1 mile by 100 mile Congressional districts.

6. The US Supreme Court will rule on gerrymandering by June 2004 |

The US Supreme Court will rule on gerrymandering by June 2004 in the "Veith" Pennsylvania case.
Pennsylvania went for Al Gore in 2000, but it has almost twice as many Republican Congresspersons and Democratic Congresspersons.
If the Supreme Court says that is a-ok, maybe there will be some kind of attempt to react.
