Is Chris Matthews running for Senate in Pennsylvania??
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 09:55 AM by killerbush
I saw this headline on Huffington Post, but I tried to get to the story, and it would zap me back to the main page, so I have no idea if this story is true or false. I'll give you the link to Huffington Post, and maybe someone can find out about it and tell me if it's true or not.

1. I thought Matthews' brother has a high GOP position in PA?
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 09:56 AM by NewJeffCT
At least that is what I recall. Something like the head of the GOP for the state or something like that.

3. His Brother IS Running For Something, But Not Sure If It's
a Repuke Senator or Representative. I know his brother is a Repuke as is most of his family.

He used to be a Democrat way back when he was with Tip O'Neill, but I think that's changed, obviously!

4. It says he's "considering a run." And that's the whole story — which
is why it's taking you back to the main page.

6. If he has to step down from his media position, that would make the
balance tilt this way:

Conservative lean would go down .00001 percent . . .

Liberal lean would also go down by about the same percentage points . . .

(for those questioning my math . . . the "liberal media" is disproportinately heavy on the "right" side; Tweety is wayyyy too soft on righties . . . and the "left" part of Tweety is claimed by the righties . . . the very minimum of what Tweety does that is left . . . would be taken away, and there would be very little left representation left anyway . . .)

7. It's just reporting the rumor. No story yet. My question is ....
when would he plan to make this run for the Senate? Not this year, of course. Is he thinking of running for Specter's seat when he retires? Specter was just reelected in 2004, so he's got five more years in that seat, if his health holds. If his health doesn't hold, maybe Matthews is considering a run at that point.

Word up to Tweety: Fuhgeddaboudit.

9. Did anyone see him on Leno last night !?!?!
I was surprised at how critical he was of the administration; specifically of how they fed us bogus info to go to war.

Tweety actually was given a roaring round of applause from the audience after he went on a fairly lengthy rant about Bush and the Iraq war!

In other words, he was completely the OPPOSITE of how he is on his show!!

You could tell he wasn't expecting the audience to break out in an uproar of applause.. he looked shocked!

Maybe he finally learned something last night? When you don't feed viewers full of b.s., they actually respect what you have to say!

I know it won't last (it's Tweety afterall).. but on Leno last night, he did a surprisingly good job.

15. larissa, I can only hope that last night stays with Matthews for a long
time - because he really never realized how loathed Bush is by regular people because he was selling him for years as incredibly popular and well-liked in a bubble world that NBC helped to create and they all lived in and protected.

16. Yeah... I sure hope so too!!
I was shocked at how he was with Leno! More like Olbermann than Tweety as far as "telling it like it is!"

I'll bet he received more heartfelt applause from that audience last night than any engagement he's ever been guest speaker at!

It was REALLY unexpected and he almost jumped out of his chair when they broke out cheering, clapping, whistling, etc. Leno just smiled and let them applaud him.

After that, Matthews was REALLY on a roll.

On one of his recent shows when he had some Republican analyst as a guest, Matthews said "I think the Republicans will hold onto power in both houses myself"

Last night on Leno.. he said completely the OPPOSITE thing!!! He said something like "I'm going to say Democrats gain control by two seats-- that's my guess, two seats"

Yep. Matthews was a shocker last night. He needs to go on that show more often!

17. and therein lies the answer: chris NEEDS approval first and foremost
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 05:37 PM by faithnotgreed
craves it which is so obvious

when he gets applause on a national show like leno he must have thought he died and went to the heavens
and then when he has mccain on his show and mccain gives chris the political approval (completely phony of course) chris thinks this is real and again thinks he has died and gone to the heavens

he is incredibly insecure and needs to feel like he is part of the popular crowd (and in his world there are lots of cool kids so he is all over the place with regularity)

i do feel bad for him
he has no grounding in himself or his identity
and to live in the washington bubble for so long and the way this whole dysfunctional place works then its no wonder he doesnt know which way is up
he just knows he HAS to belong especially if it brings him into the inner circle of those he considers strong and manly

gag
i cant go on any further with this but you get the gist
