Due to problems at Voter News Service, exit polls were not available for the 2002 election

VNS issued a statement saying it was "not satisfied with the accuracy of today's exit poll analysis and will not be in a position on election night to publish the results of state and national surveys of voter attitudes."

the 2002 midterm elections, Democrats were stunned on election night when Republicans defied historical patterns and made gains in the House and Senate. The president's party usually loses seats during the first midterm elections after he takes office.

Even though Republicans are really weak on terror and security, that was not the perception from most Americans right after 9-11. Republicans love terra, and they got people to vote for them in 2002 because of it.
