Kucinich opponent DINO Ferris running expensive tv ads
But where does she get the money?

According to FEC records, she's only raised $49,220 and only had $4,535 on hand at the end of last month, yet she's running an expensive campaign commercial on broadcast television (during the Today Show this morning).

Is she getting her money for tv ads from the GOP?

concerns that take us in other directions, but DK's voice and his seat should be a concern that unites every DUer.

I'm kicking this thread, because what's contained in it is a five-alarm fire to me.

Dennis Kucinich's economic philosophy does not sit well with the corporatists.

Her reports show no big corporate contributions as of 3/30/06. She had only about $4,000 on hand. Now she's running expensive commercials, buying a sizeable chunk of tv time. We won't know who paid for it until after the next campaign finance reporting deadline.

We seem to have a sudden influx of so-called "progressive bloggers" in the area who are displeased with Kucinich. Funny, no one has ever heard of most of them, and we don't know where their money comes from. BTW, this is the same crowd that bashes Sherrod Brown on a regular basis.

Kerry - some of the "lefty" sites started up for the primaries turned out to be associated with the swiftliars and their backers.

If new "lefty" voices are trashing Dennis IN Cleveland, I call them out as GOP operatives.

43. Site owned by New Times Media, LLC
From Wikipedia:

The New Times Media corporation is a national publisher of alternative weekly newspapers.
Its papers are: Cleveland Scene, Dallas Observer, Westword, East Bay Express, New Times Broward-Palm Beach, Houston Press, The Pitch, Miami New Times, Phoenix New Times, SF Weekly, and Riverfront Times.

In 2003, the company was forced into a settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, over antitrust allegations. The company had colluded with another publisher of alternative weeklies, Village Voice Media, to stop competing in two cities where both companies published. New Times Media shuttered its New Times LA, while Village Voice Media agreed to stop publishing Cleveland Free Times. The settlement required each company to make available publishing assets and the defunct papers' titles to potential competitors.

On October 24, 2005, New Times Media announced a deal to acquire Village Voice Media, creating a chain of 17 free weekly newspapers around the country with a combined circulation of 1.8 million and controlling a quarter of the weekly circulation of alternative weekly newspapers in North America. The deal is subject to approval from the Justice Department.

-end-

Didn't someone post here that the powers at The Village Voice didn't want anti-Bush administration stories? Anyway, they sound smarmy.

60. Scene is crap.
That snarkily shitting all over everything and never having the stones to take an actual stand on anything that they try to pass off as "libertarianism" when it's really just nihilism annoys me to no end, and every pub in the whole corporate chain that owns it does the exact same stuff. I have plenty of reasons to slam the Scene, and maybe not all of them fair, but the fact is I *wish* it were a good paper. It's bad for the city when vacuous shit like that is part of the discourse. Wanna dislike Dennis? Fine, dislike him, but articles like that one accomplish nothing except for making the writer feel superior.

And actually, the Free Times had some pointlessly nasty shit about DK during primary season, as well, penned by that Larry Durstin twit, who, I read in the PD, got shitcanned for abusing his press credentials to scam free meals. Classy. :eyes:

Mind you, I wouldn't donate any money towards her but are we just slapping a DINO tag on her since she isn't Kucinich? I was reading the endorsement she received from the Plain Dealer and some of the points I had to agree with. Doesn't Oh-10 deserve a representative that'll actually be there to represent them?

I appreciate what you've said because you know Cleveland way better than I do, but I'm tired of us slapping the "DINO" label on anyone we don't like. I got crucified over the whole Hackett/Brown issue because people felt Hackett was ousted and Ohio deserves the right to a primary. Well, doesn't OH-10 also deserve the right to a primary?

from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Anne_Ferris :
Ferris ran as an Independent in the 2004 election for Ohio's 10th district United State's House seat.

Man, this is dirty pool!!!!! This isn't really a stealth candidate cause she has already run as an independent, voters coudl remember her from before......

I remember back home in Iowa we had some woman Republican who couldn't get the Republican nomination for a local position so she ran as a democrat, we knew it, so we openly campaigned against her and endorsed the Republican.

Election Fraud?? This is a set up -- TV adds and Rethugs sending emails Rethug voters telling them to vote for Ferris - this is a set up so the Rethugs can STEAL the election.

Kucinich has to be ready to seize the ballot boxes IMMEDIATELY at the end of the day and begin a recount no matter what the outcome -- they can steal it so Ferris wins by 54% or 61% or whatever!?!

53. Are you active in Cuyahoga Dem Party? Or the Kucinich campaign?
Kucinich is aware of many aspects of this problem -- such as the need for voter verifiable paper trail -- but the legislation he has supported HR2239 calls only for 0.5% surprise audits when what we need is 100% automatic recounts.

I want his campaign to express their full knowledge of what is happening in advance of May 2nd -- I've watched Texas primary be stolen earlier this year and watched 3 out of 5 referendums to clean up Ohio voting be stolen last year.

55. Is the Dem Party helping to run parallel elections?
My thoughts:
1) We've got to do what we can to get-out-the-vote.
2) Also, provide extra donations to the Kucinich campaign.
3) BEG the Kucinich campaign to prepare for a recount IMMEDIATELY at the close of the polls on election day. Even if Kucinich wins he should hold a recount - if his campaign can document wildly different recount totals from those reported election evening - that might blow the lid off of Ohio's tainted elections.

51. she ought to be ashamed of herself... "Hi I'm Barbara Ferris, and I'm

a rethuglican tool. I don't give a damn about you. I'm just running 'cause my rethuglican masters told me to. Even though most of you would never wrote Democrat in your sorry lives, ask for a Democrat ballot in the primaries. Let's see if we can't get one of the FEW HONEST politicians out of office." Paid for by rethuglicans and other reptiles for Ferris.

61. She sounds DLC to me
http://www.meetthebloggers.net/barbara-ferris-transcript/

Stay the course in Iraq.
School vouchers aren't so bad.
blah, blah, blah...

LOL - She tries to paint Kucinich as a supporter of flag-burning in this blog interview, but they didn't let her get away with it.

63. Calling Kucinich a "flag burner"?
She's not DLC, she's GOP, period.

64. It's possible
But reading through that long blog interview I saw some DLC talking points. Of course, DLC talking points tend to sound GOP. So it's hard to say.

65. but even the DLC will criticize Bush while Ferris is silent
She says in her website that the 10th District needs someone in Washington that will bring federal money to the District. Yep, if Ferris were a Republican she could do that assuming GOP retains control of House. If the Democrats win control of the House, there is no point in challenging Kucinich on those basis.

Ferris is a stealth candidate for big business.

66. "stealth candidate for big business" sounds about right
I don't live in OH, but these threads caught my eye and I wondered who's bankrolling her teevee ads.

Weird.

67. She's endorsed by the National Women's Political Caucus, too...
In fact, she's the "Featured Candidate of the Week". http://www.nwpc.org/ht/d/Home/pid/959

Does the NWPC seriously believe that the status of women would be advanced by the defeat of one of the most progressive members of the U.S. Congress? This is a great example of the folly of endorsing a candidate based primarily on gender.

68. NWPC is primarily GOP now
they used to be a good group back during the 1980's and early 90's, but GOP gradually took control.

69. Geez, look at Dennis' numbers
He's got double what she does.

I wonder what their poll numbers would be.

Something tells me she's wasting her time.

What does this tell us, besides that Dennis has unions on his side.

not working with Rove.
