If you didn't hear, Bill "she doesn't look brain dead to me" Frist, is gonna give us all a $100.00 bribe! (rather than repealing the Big Oil Tax breaks).

15. 300? Do you have a sure thing that you'd like to share?
Or is $300 what you think the compromise will be, between the $100.00 the ReThugs are promising and the $500.00 the Dems proposed?

20. In Futurama they get a $300 tax rebate,
from the Arachnid war, in the form of a Tricky-Dick fun-bucks check.

The similarity to this real life situation is creepy. :scared:

9. Save your gas receipts and mail them to
the newly created government Office of Energy Independence ( a wholly owned subsidiary of Exxon Mobil) In 6 months you will receive a voucher good for $100 worth of gas (which will at that time buy you about 10 gallons). The administrative overhead on the $100 rebate will amount to $250. And most people will need the money anyway to "put food on their family". You are witnessing the genesis of yet another republican clusterfuck.

22. What? You didn't get you check yet?
I think the check Genie is going to make them appear by magic. (I would have said the Check Fairy, but the ReThugs might come and find me if I used the word Fairy when referring to something they are doing).

Senate GOP Floats Gas-Rebate Plan

Listen to this story...(at link)
by David Welna

All Things Considered, April 27, 2006 · Senate Republicans
propose a $100 rebate check for millions of taxpayers Thursday
to counter high gasoline costs, but linked the assistance to drilling
in an Alaska wildlife refuge, thus assuring the measure would face stiff
opposition from most Democrats.

..if they're more willing to give each of us $100.00 instead of repealing the tax breaks, it makes you realize how important these tax breaks are to them.

They must be getting some serious kickbacks from the oil and gas industry!

26. You got that right!
What amazes me is that Frist and his buds seem to think that $100.00 is all it would take for us to change our minds about destroying Alaska's North Slope (ANWAR), if they don't get to drill ANWAR, we don't get our $100 Dollars.

31. I can hear the Loyal Bushipers now
"Isn't that wonderful?!?!?" Then, when you try and point out some facts to them what a smack in the face it is to the average, every day American, you'll hear something like, "Well, what do you expect? A welfare handout for life?" or some other rediculous strawman sentiment.

The GOP also doesn't provide the details on this $100. I've heard "every taxpayer" and "every car driving taxpayer". They'll probably find a way to make it be claimed on next year's taxes, too!

Might as well use it to try to take the government back.

Really, McCaskill isn't near as progressive as I'd like, but she's our best chance of unseating Jim Talent (a complete waste and Bushbot - of course, that's redundant  )

37. It's not even that good, it's worst than you describe, because it's...
...adding to this years Federal budget deficit, so it's borrowed money that will eventually have to be paid back with interest, after it's added to our $8.3 Trillion Dollar National Debt.

I don't think many here are fooled by this stunt, which is why we are mocking it.
