Back when Democrats had guts... |
"Every senator in this chamber is partly responsible for sending 50,000 young Americans to an early grave. This chamber reeks of blood... It does not take any courage at all for a congressman, or a senator, or a president to wrap himself in the flag and say we are staying in Vietnam, because it is not our blood that is being shed. But we are responsible for those young men and their lives and their hopes." -- Sen. George McGovern, Sept 1, 1970

1. You mean back before Democratic guts... |
...became the number one Radical RW talking point?
With all due respect to the great and honorable man you quote - whose guts were also challenged on a regular basis.

2. Saw George on TV Recently |
and he's still the Patriot he's always been! Since 1970, how many Senators have there been that could fill George's shoes quite the same way he has? NO ONE comes to mind. Feingold is showing promise tho!
