West Coast

For some reason three Dem Represenatatives have the floor at once.

They have HUGE visual aids - A giant poster of Bush holding hands with Saudi Prince. Tim Ryan asks, why is gas so expensive? This is why! Look at this!

Wasserman-Schultz has a large chart showing how the implementation of Cheney's Secret Energy Task Force Plan has forced gas prices to skyrocket - show the % implemenation of the plan in correlation to the incrase in gas price. She says: "It's not rocket science! Look what they did!"

Ryan says - The energy policy is the REPUBLICAN policy. They rule this House with an iron fist - this is THEIR policy.

Now Delahunt chipping in on how expensive and secretive the prescription drug plan was. HE has a GIANT poster of Bush at Mission Accomplished.

THis is good sutff. Whoooo!

3. Wasserman: "Sorry excuse to say we can't do anything about gas prices"
Bush was disengenious when he said in State of Union that we should end addiction to oil. That is NOT their policy.

8. Here is another blurb on them from The Hill.
"Rep. Ryan turns back Delahunt’s clock

The House Democrats’ 30-Something Working Group, the informal cadre of young members who can often be seen giving coordinated special-orders speeches in the evenings, has attracted older members to join in since beginning the practice last May.

Chief among them is Rep. Bill Delahunt (Mass.), 65, who often participates two to three times a week.
And now, says Rep. Tim Ryan (Ohio), who co-founded the group with Rep. Kendrick Meek (Fla.), they’ve made Delahunt an honorary member.

“He’s the grandfatherly figure,” Ryan said. “He gives us a dollar after the 30-something group to go buy ice cream.”

Not to be outdone, a bemused Delahunt said he should be the “chairman … by virtue of seniority. I’m the ‘something’ of the 30-something group.”
He added that the group brings “a certain energy and passion to the public discourse.”
Delahunt’s press secretary, Steven Broderick, cracked that given his age and experience, “We like to say that he counts for two 30-somethings.”

for more.

For Democrats, a chamber of speeches
Lawmakers sound off on blog as cameras roll

November 17, 2005

WASHINGTON -- The last vote in the House of Representatives was three hours ago. The only Republican in the House chamber yawns from his perch behind the speaker's platform.
But at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, C-SPAN's cameras are still rolling and a small group of Democrats declare themselves ''ready to rock and roll."

''We are very, very excited about introducing '30 Something Live!' " intones Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio, a lanky 32-year-old with the booming voice of a sports announcer. ''This is going to be the first ever, so this is pretty exciting stuff."

For the next 40 minutes, four Democratic House members take live questions via the Internet. The 21st century briefly visits a chamber that sometimes seems locked in the 19th.
This lonely conclave represents the latest attempt by Democrats to inspire young voters. It was the brainchild of the party's ''30 Something" Working Group after noticing that liberal bloggers had joined the insomniacs and scattered political junkies watching late-night speeches in the House.

So Ryan takes the floor alongside two 39-year-old representatives from Florida -- Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Kendrick B. Meek -- and 64-year-old Representative William Delahunt of Quincy, called ''Uncle Bill" by his younger colleagues.
''One of the questions we have here, Mr. Speaker, from Hayward, Calif., asked 'What is our mission in Iraq other than being targets for anyone with a weapon?' " Ryan says. ''If we ask questions that a man like Robert Veloza asks, Mr. Speaker, we get called unpatriotic."
