Republicans could feel voters' ire
Election has potential to be referendum on governor
By Mary Beth SchneiderVoters won't find Gov. Mitch Daniels' name on the ballot when they go to the polls this fall, but the election may be a referendum on his administration.
Unable to vote directly on the first-term Republican governor, many voters could turn to the next best thing, according to Robert Dion, an assistant professor of American politics at the University of Evansville:

Former House Speaker John Gregg, a Democratic attorney who also hosts a radio talk show, sees a Democratic tide coming that will wash out Republican incumbents.
"People are mad at Congress. Mad at the president. Mad at the war. Mad at gas prices. Mad at Governor Daniels," he said. "But if Democrats get in and do the same-old, same-old, they'll throw them right back out."
