CBS just said Hayden considering retiring so he'd be a citizen
instead of in the military. :eyes: I imagine that would mean he'd be legally able to double dip.
I still don't like him.

1. Be a citizen? Does that mean he can have his Constitutional
rights violated like the rest of us, then?

12. No, that means he can ignore that oath he took to support, protect and
defend the Constitution....even though it appears he never read the damn thing.

Then, he'll be in charge of VIOLATING our rights!

2. It's the mindset and also the fact that he doesn't even know
The 4th Amendment of the The Bill of Rights!

5. I really don't know, but I imagine he won't have to worry about
affording healthcare or a pension, what with his hefty retirement pay.

7. I honestly don't see how this could appease anyone; he'd still
be the same rat bastard under whatever he wears.

8. But, consider this -
wouldn't you like him just a teeny bit more if he dressed up and did this?

11. They'd have to waive his time, but they'd do that, I imagine
It's all bullshit. He probably wants to resign to get the BIGGER PAYCHECK...

But he won't resign UNTIL he gets the confirmation, I'll bet.

13. My take on it is that he's considering resigning to shut up the
naysayers that don't like the thought of someone in the military running the CIA show. So I don't know.

14. Let's hope it's not that bad,
we've nominated some fine military people to head the CIA

Rear Admiral Sidney M Souers
Lt. General Hoyt Vandenberg
Rear Admiral Roscoe H Hillenkoetter
General Walter Bedell Smith
Vice Admiral William F Raborn Jr.
Admiral Stansfield Turner

18. what the cbs report was saying
is that the pentagon now controls 80% of the intelligence agencies of this country (they then listed like five or six different intelligence agencies, all under the control of the pentagon).

if they then have a military head of the cia, that pretty much covers the rest. its not that we can't have a military head of the cia, its just that with the cia head ALSO being military, the pentagon is practically in complete control of all intelligence.

so, their solution? have the military guy retire, so he is not military, then make him the head of the cia, anyway.

so, the military, who doesn't give a whit about the constitution, just serving at the pleasure of the president, can continue to control all intelligence, thereby easily continuing all the funding needed for legitimate, illegtimate, and black ops (yes, i make a distinction), projects.

then, as long as they have someone in the presidency THEY can control, like bush, who is making a KILLING off all the defense funding increases, it is a done deal.

just how stupid do they think we are??

no! don't answer that....

:grr:

19. I am as angry as you are, and I am retired military
It's not JUST the fact that he is military that is chopping me. It's that he's military, has sworn to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, AND he has problems understanding the 4th Amendment.

It's the increasing encroachment of the military into the intel sphere, to the point where they have most of it--and I LIKE civilian control of the military. It's what separates us from Turkey.

It's the casual attitude he has towards covertly surveilling US citizens, using military assets.

It's the fact that he's Negroponte's TOADY--and we know what a charmer that guy is.

It has nothing to do with the fact that he looks like a cross between a Central Casting Nazi and Karl Rove's slightly fitter doppleganger; but that doesn't advance his cause, either!

17. He resigned later
"APPOINTED 8 February 1977 by President Jimmy Carter; confirmed by Senate,24 February 1977; sworn in, 9 March 1977

Promoted to Admiral, 1975; retired from active duty, 31 December 1978"

I answered my own question.

15. I don't have a problem with retired/off duty generals as DCI
I have a problem with anybody as closely assoiciated with the NSA demestic wire tapping program as is General Hayden being DCI.
