Poll question: Will Jeb Bush enter the 2008 election? |
|
Edited on Thu May-11-06 07:44 AM by jackbourassa
With Bush's statement yesterday that his brother, Jeb Bush (R-FL), would make an excellent President and that he is advising him to run, I think we may have been given a glimpse into how George W. Bush intends to maintain his legacy.
McCain is too much of a wildcard for the Shrub. Jeb clearly has Presidential ambitions of his own. And a Hillary candidacy may offset any criticism of dynastic ambition.
So what do you think? Will Jeb run or will he not?
Add a comment if you'd like to explain your vote. I'm interested in your opinion.

1. Jeb is at least a tiny bit smarter than his vacuous older brother, but |
|
it's just enough to know that he would be inheriting Dubya's colossal mess.
I think primary/caucus voters are much more interested in non-dynastic candidacies this time. Just my take, of course, but I think Senator Clinton will be defeated in Iowa and New Hampshire, and that Slobberin' Jeb doesn't have the heir-apparent glow he might have had if Dubya hadn't atomized the federal government.

2. Well if brother Gorge can "win" why not Jeb ! |
|
If anything Jeb Bush seems to have a better command of the English language ,he certainly is better looking ,and just doesnt come off as stupid as his brother. This scares me ,because I dont think I can take another bush in the white house ,or I should say I dont think our country and the world could take it. Please dont let it be !

4. Jeb will have the support of the neo-cons and the religious right |
|
Edited on Thu May-11-06 08:02 AM by jackbourassa
And these two groups control the Republican party. Not too mention the Bush family's vast support network of campaign contributors, and the Bush Administration itself. He is Catholic and has a hispanic wife and kids. The Republicans may feel, as may the Bush family, that this is what is needed to win back disaffected latinos and Catholics.
If Jeb were to run, there is no doubt in my mind that he would win the Republican nomination.

5. If he does run, what would McCain do? |
|
Just curious. That would be an interesting side issue.

10. McCain won't be in the picture if Jeb decides to run. |
|
It's obvious W wants the dictatorship to stay in the family. He'll "persuade" McCain to step aside.

I know he’s done everything he can do to pander to the religious right to get there. I think he will run.

11. I don't think Jeb's that popular a governor? |
|
Well, based on the snarky comments by my conservative Florida relatives.
I know they were really pissed at him after Rita and Wilma when he told people standing on LONG LINES FOR WATER, "you should have been better prepared". D'oh.

13. On the news they said Babs also said her boy, Jebbie, would NOT be running |
|
Since Babs usually pulls the puppet strings in the "Family"...I'd say that if Babs says "NO," Jeb also means "no." Perhps Neil...or the twins...or a Constitutional re-write for a THIRD term for Chimp. THe voting machines, as we know...help "poll numbers" amazingly. Nothing would surprise me. But not Jeb.

15. I remember a Babs' quote years ago that... |
|
it was originally the plan for Jeb, not Shrub, to run, but it got sidetracked somehow.
Seems to me that by now Shrub has completely poisoned any plans for a family dynasty. The third of true beleivers out there still support him but can't explain why, and everyone else hates his guts.
Just yesterday I again got into a discussion with a complete stranger while waiting for a bus, and halfway in he volunteered he hated Shrub with a passion. Said his wife hates him even more.
I think there's even more disgust with Shrub than the polls show, but many people don't know exactly what to do about it.
At any rate, whatever Jeb does, he's not goinbg anywhere but home.

17. It was because Jeb lost in Florida |
|
the first time he ran; and as W won in Texas he got poll position. The lead times were too short for Jeb by the time he finally won in Florida.

18. WAAAAAAY too early to tell |
|
People forget that the guy who's being talked about 2 years before almost always loses. Remember Gary Hart? Paul Tsongas? Pete Wilson? OK, Dubya broke that mold because people were talking about him in '98 but other than that, the frontrunner always has skeletons fall out of his closet.
