Thank You QWEST for Protecting our Civil Liberties!!
My son and I are going right now to put a candle and yellow roses in front of QWEST's main building in downtown Salt Lake City. And tomorrow we're dropping our AT&T wireless for QWEST and demanding our money back for every month AT&T stole our privacy away.

1. Good for you. I'm so happy thousands, maybe millions are dropping the
collaborators.

2.  I called Qwest to tell them if they were in California. . .
I'd use them in a hearbeat. The CSR laughed and said they'd had an incredible number of calls just like mine today and it will hopefully spur Qwest to expand their operations. Presently, they're in 14 states with plans to expand, and the interest shown today will definitely provide incentive for them to invest in the risk.

It is true: We have to work within the confines of the structure in which we live. But nothing says we can't try to change the structure.

3. I've looked at Qwest's website
and I can't seem to figure them out. Are they an Internet phone company or land line?
Thanks in advance. :toast:

4. QWEST is our land line phone company. I think they're also wireless.
We'll check on that tomorrow too. We made a quick poster too, to say thank you and put it in front of their building with the candle and roses. I'll upload a picture tomorrow of my son in front of their building with the poster.

Qwest looks gamey to me.

Two sites to visit:

http://www.hereinreality.com/news/axis.html

http://www.carlyle.com/eng/industry/casestudy-758.html

Granted, the second site deals with just the Directory business of Qwest....

Holy Cow! Just found this!

http://www.sec.gov/news/press/2005-36.htm

Shortly after this, Qwest sells their directory business to Carlysle.

WHAT was going on?

Who is heading Qwest now?

5. as one who writes a check every month to Qwest
I don't feel I should have to say thank you to a giant corporation for simply making a legal decision to protect their butts. But I'm feeling magnanamous tonight, so hey, thanks Qwest.

6. Yes indeed.
They deserve a round of applause for the brave defiance in the face of the threats they've received from this administration.

Bravo!!!

7. Concerning my cell service,
I use Alltel but I keep getting Sprint technician calls or interuptions discussing technical items such as service down in different sectors. Does this mean that certain services control transmissions of other companies customers?

11. The short answer to your question is yes. A cell phone talks to a base
station. The base station is controlled by a central processor or a switch. The link between the base station and the switch, in a large number of cases, is telephone company property.

10. T-Mobile should be added to the list as well!
T-Mobile, which is the cell provider I have, doesn't engage in any of this NSA business. I knew there was something worthwhile about signing up with a German carrier. :)

Also, Verizon Wireless supposedly doesn't participate in this NSA program, but I'm suspicious as Verizon landline does participate. I think they're just saying that to stop customers from fleeing to T-Mobile.
