Mollohan puts $3.7M beach house for sale
This does not look good, shades of Cunningham. Mollohan's mother loaned him $260,000 for the down payment. Mollohan's father was the previous congressman in the same district.

Congressman: It was purchased as investment property
    By George Hohmann
    Charleston Daily Mail

CHARLESTON — U.S. Rep. Alan Mollohan’s beach house is for sale. Asking price: $3.7 million.

Mollohan and his wife, Barbara, built the house on Bald Head Island, N.C., in late 2004.

Mollohan said that his mother loaned the couple the down payment on the house, which was about $260,000, and he and his wife have a $2 million mortgage on it.

The house sleeps 14, according to an advertisement on Bald Head Island Rentals’ Web site. It has six bedrooms, six full baths and five half baths. It has 4,500 square feet of heated space and a 2,500-square-foot deck. ...

The Mollohan house is known as “The Peppervine House.” It is next to “Cape Fearless,” a house owned by Don and Laura Kuhns. Cape Fearless is a five-bedroom, 4.5-bath oceanfront home that sleeps 10. It rents for $6,555 a week during the peak summer season.

Laura Kuhns, a former Mollohan staffer, now runs the Vandalia Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit headquartered in Fairmont that is financed mostly with federal money obtained by Mollohan through an appropriation process called earmarking. ...

2. Good question.
As for Mary Bono not being able to put her son through school on a congressional salary,if so, the woman has no business in Congress.
