One thing I REALLY like about John Edwards... |
|
he never pulls that "God bless you...God bless America" shit when he finishes a speech...at least he didn't tonight.
Are there any other candidates who also refrain from floating those bromides? I don't think I've heard Dean use them. Anyone else?

1. He does an "I believe in you." |
|
or "Together we can change America."
...very similar to Dean's "You have the power."
I really like that about both of them. They put the credit where it's due.

2. Really? Is that the truth? |
|
God bless you for letting us know :)
Seriously, I hate that crap, too. It's pandering. But you know what, John Kennedy used the "God thing" a lot. I've found some of his speeches online, especially his inaugural speech. Amazing how many references to God are in there.
I don't mind when it's sincere. When bush does it, he makes me want to go out and kick a Christian.

3. I agree--he sometimes does it in response to someone who |
|
is talking to him one-on-one, when shaking their hand. But I've never seen it as part of a speech to the whole crowd.

4. I don't think I've ever heard |
|
Clark say that. I think I would remember it because it makes me :puke:.
