DU is looking better today. Much less 'dump Dean' bullshit |
|
Are we finally back to bashing our enemies?
I'm just checkin' .... cuz I wouldn't wanna buck any trends.
Oh ...... and who's the next one to be in the hot seat?
I was away this morning and missed the memo with next week's 'hate agenda'.

2. They're still here and I keep answering with the magic words |
|
"Vermont civil union."
I can't believe the overreaction. Dean was backed into a corner by a foaming fundy. I haven't seen the clip, but I'll lay odds he was cut off before he could say "but I signed the civil union bill into law."
His views are out there and they're more favorable than a lot of rank and file Dems I know. He's evolved, the people in this country need to follow suit.

12. Oh, yes it is. If KO can still be flamed here, Colbert is inevitable. |

We don't need a hero, we need a concerted, collaborative, collective effort which is lead by ethical, competent and inspiring people.
There was a recent thread about DU'ers' Myers Briggs results, and we appear to have a disproportionate number of "NF"'s (big picture seeing, feeling driven folks) That may be why the reaction is swift and merciless, since we are acutely aware of the feeling of betrayal because we see it in a "big picture" view, rather than strictly personal mode and we don't like what this does to that view.
Add to that the brilliant, articulate and rapier-sharp posts we craft here at DU and voila!
People feeling even more angry and betrayed. And, we definitely have our share of jerks, too. :)
:peace:
BTW, I :loveya: Dean! MKJ

dump dean? Who said that? Do they represent everyone? I didn't get the memo. How about judging the performance, not the peformer? Is that allowed or are we interrupting anyone's worship? Again.
Of course it's not allowed. Please tell us again how to be a "real" democrat since none of us "included" democrats know how to think for ourselves.
I guess all the conspiratorial superiority in this thread doesn't address the fact that Dean pissed off his some of his support and you guys don't know how to address it, as usual.
How you gonna win votes with that attitude? I just don't see this as constructive.

8. I don't see how its constructive to crucify someone who made a |
|
mistake .... took ownership of it .... and as far as I know, went on to apologize for it.
Discussion of an issue is fine.
It is the 'leave the party' and 'out with Dean' stuff that was over the top.
Whatever happened to tolerance?
And forgiveness?

I like those as prerequisites for his position, and I say we stick with him.
Excellent post as always, Husb2Sparkly.

but we are saying that he did the wrong thing. He had no business going on the 700 club. Robertson is no less horrid than Ann Coulter.

10. To be honest, I only skimmed the many threads ........ |
|
..... the vitriol on both sides was a little high.
But to your point, that's a very real and appropriate position you've taken. I'm on the opposite side of it, but unless you ask me about it (which you sorta just did), I'd never even mention my view in debate or opposition of yours. I'm assuming your view would trump mine as I don't have a horse is this particular race ... except as a matter of principle (which is to say that, personally, I support gay **marriage** as an end goal.)
Dean is like me ... and you .... and everyone else. He's human. He does what he thinks is right and sometimes his 'right' might not be my 'right' or your 'right'.
I guess I look at the totality of the man ... or at least the totality of the job he's done as DNC Chair. Apart from this issue, I'd hazard a guess that and I are pretty much on the same page .... on balance he's doing a good job and working his ass off for **our** benefit.
And I'm not even a Dean cheerleader.

it is where he said it. Reach out to Christians all you want but not there. Robertson is a total nut.

Just going on hs show gives him validity.
But, going on his show allows his *viewers* to hear a different viewpoint than they're used to hearing.
I can't say which trumps which.

16. Here's the hate agenda memo for next week. |
|
Edited on Fri May-12-06 11:18 PM by lumberjack_jeff
First up; the xenophobic, racist hate-mongering nativists who cleverly hide their bile-spewing rhetoric behind the guise of "advocating for working class voters". We see through THAT bs pretty darn quick. Next in the cross-hairs, any democrat who gets caught talking to to non traditional democrat constituencies. A 50-state strategy is fine, provided you don't let any fundies slip in.
Finally, if there's any gigabytes left on the internets, we'll take on anyone who thinks that an absence of DNA evidence implies anything other than guilt.
Oh, and one more. Anyone who believes that "self-determination" in the context of the developmentally disabled means choosing a path which may differ the one that we'd choose for him.
Oh, wait, I've gotten my memos mixed up - that was this week's.
:sarcasm:
