Happy Birthday, Stephen! I just read something in "entertainment weakly" that made me fume and I had to get on DU and find some sanity..


It was under their Monitor section in the May 12, 2006 issue..with a picture of Stephen at the podium and smirk sitting there looking like he's sucking on a rotten lemon.


"Here's one shake-up president bush(sic) wishes he could have arrnaged: the guest list at the white house correspondents' dinner April 29th, where Stephen Colbert took direct, often vicious aim at bush(:nopity:), who was seated just a few feet away. The president(sic) was not amused. And neither were we, particularly. Colbert's usually much funnier."


Yeah, this is just one reason why I don't subscribe to ew anymore..they get it so WRONG too often.

Colbert didn't have to be funny and, of course, the idiot didn't think it was funny..IT WAS THE TRUTHINESS! What's your problem, ew?

"Ew!" is right. I used to love that magazine. You made me glad I let my subscription lapse.

If they reviewed the "I have a dream" speech, they'd probably say "it wasn't peppy enough -- give us dreams with Lindsay Lohan!"

5. Yeah, they rag and think they're

so superior on a lot of movies that I like.. I still get it at the library cause I'm such a movie buff..ok, I'm obsessed :)

Are you the guy who sang "Colbert"? It's Brilliant! And so is he!

6. More musically talented friends...

...did the singing, playing, recording, and mixing. I just did the lyrics (and ol' J.J. Cale wrote the tune).

We probably should have gotten it out a week earlier when Colbertmania was at its peak. But actually I'm glad if it does its little part to help stretch out the free speech "high" we've enjoyed in the wake of his brilliant and daring Correspondents' Dinner performance.

I do hope Papa 'bert knows what a totally righteous dude he is for telling off the President and our phlegmatic news media. And a pat on the back for all of us in the extended "Crashing the Gate" community -- if it weren't for us, they would have been able to bury the whole story, but we didn't let that happen. Even if EW is dissing it, we helped make sure they couldn't ignore it, and we've driven amazing numbers of people to watch it on the Web and judge for themselves.

Oh, and again, thanks much for your kind words about our little ditty. Very much appreciated!
