"Mexicans" were in TX, AZ, NM, and CA about 10,000 years before Europeans |
|
It wasn't much more than a hundred years ago when Europeans first set foot in the southwestern states.
Now who's invading whose land?

4. Spain invaded Mexico, too... |
|
The Mexicans (and others, like the Mayans) were there hundreds of years before the Spainards ever set foot there.

5. Ok, ok, but the missionaries didn't try to kick the "Mexicans" out |
|
like the right wingers are trying to do. So I guess the "Mexicans" only beat the missionaries to California by 9850 years.

There were "mexicans" in that land. And that then land became US territory. And then what happened?
Were all the "mexicans" rounded up and sent south? Were they exterminated in rounds of "ethnic cleaning"?
Or did they stay on the land and become US citizens?

Native Americans were here thousands of years before European colonization, not Mexicans. Only 20% of modern Mexicans are of pure Native American ancestry, and their ancestors came from groups that resided in what is now Mexico. Around 60% of Mexicans have mixed European/Indian ancestry. Almost 20% of the Mexican population consider themselves to be solely of European descent.
Mexico did not exist as a nation or a people until the nineteenth century. If anyone was given the shaft, it was Native Americans, not the government/citizens of Mexico.
Open-border advocates/Mexican government apologists need to get their facts straight.

14. So what you're saying is that 80% of Mexicans are descendants |
|
of the "natives" who have been here/there for about 10,000 years beating the Europeans by nearly all 10,000 of those years. And you were trying to COUNTER my argument with this?

16. the ancesters of "Mexicans" were not in the Southwest |
|
thousands of years ago. They were in what is now Mexico. Mixed European/Indian individuals (what most people identify with Mexican) did not migrate to the area until a few centuries ago with Spanish colonization.
I too have Native American ancestry, but I am from the east coast. Just because I have Indian ancestry, does this mean that I can lay claim to Mexico, which was once solely populated by Native Americans? I guess I'll pack my bags, because if your logic is right, Mexico owes me a living.
Take Logic 101, you might learn something.

9. unlikely the hopis, navajos, apaches, chumash called themselves mexicans |
|
this whole argument (it was stolen from the "mexicans") is bogus to use as a commentary on past events relating to original inhabitants, because it only goes back to the point that meets the needs of the persons advocating this position.
the population of the desert southwest was quite likely taking land from each other long before the first europeans came on the scene.

this argument is absurd and it`s inflammatory. humans have migrated across the planet ever since they stood upright and they will continue to do so until our species dies out. everyone here in the northern and southern americas came from somewhere else and will continue to do so.

What? That the new comers can move into somebody else's territory, declare the land theirs, and kick out the original residents? Is it just a fact that I should accept?
