Bush is losing popularity in Utah
To quote Bill Mahr, "It's hard out there for a Chimp!"

"For months, Utah has supported President Bush like no other state. But no longer.
Utah now ranks second, behind Idaho, in surveys tracking Bush's job approval.
Utah (51 percent) and Idaho (52 percent) are the only two states where a majority of residents still approve of the way Bush is handling the country, according to SurveyUSA figures released Monday."

1. Jackass Support
The man's popularity is shrinking daily isn't it?

an outside supporter would probably say, "So what? Utah is just one state". But Utah was, as you said, one of the biggest Duh-bya supporters. It says a lot that they're starting to lose support for him too.

6. Utah supported * to the tune of 72% in 2004.
If he's down to almost the halfway mark in Utah, then you know he's hurting! How low can he go?

7. Bush support of "marriage is between one man and one woman"
cost him the support of the Utah polygamist community.

8. Utah is a state that would be contaminated by the Divine Strake
- the 700 ton detonation set for the Nevada Bomb Testing Site that was set for next month but has been postponed for the time being.

14. The polygamist community is not very big.
Honestly. They just get all the publicity because they are so interesting.

Its the regular church that has the power there - and I do mean power. They run absolutely everything.

9. 14% of delegates at Utah's State Dem Convention were former Repubs.
This was reported by our State Dem Chair on Salt Lake's KCPW radio station today. These new delegates were formerly moderate repubs who had become disappointed with the republican party. In another unusual twist, Utah State's Republican Party had John McCain as it's keynote speaker on Saturday. Has anyone checked the temp of Hell today?

13. I'm kind of not surprised at this. I live in Utah for a long time.
Mormons have always been against "big government." They like to do their own thing on their own land.

I think they might have liked the "family" stuff at first. But all of this huge government spending is not something they would go for.

I think that may also be true of lots of the Evangelicals, as well. They don't like government controlling their lives.
