New Ad campaign to counter Gore's "Inconvenient Truth"
From the National Press Club:

CEI TO LAUNCH NATIONAL GLOBAL WARMING AD CAMPAIGN

Ads Countering Global Warming Alarmism to be Unveiled at May 17 News Conference.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute will unveil a national global warming ad campaign at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at noon. CEI has produced two 60-second television ads focusing on global warming alarmism and the call by some environmental groups and politicians to reduce fossil fuel use and carbon dioxide emissions. The ads will air in more than a dozen cities around the country beginning May 18, 2006.

“The campaign to limit carbon dioxide emissions is the single most important regulatory issue today,” says Marlo Lewis, a CEI senior fellow in environmental policy.

“It is nothing short of an attempt to suppress energy use, which in turn would be economically devastating—all to avert an alleged catastrophe whose scientific basis is dubious.”

In CEI’s view, claims of looming climate disaster due to energy use are unfounded. One of the ads focuses on the extent to which the public has received only one side of the glacial melting issue. CEI’s national ad campaign, produced with Washington, DC-based Next Generation Advertising, is the first to counter the flood of scare stories on global warming.

2. I saw that yesterday. The same tactics they used to try to muddy the
water on whether smoking was bad for you.

They are experts at smoke and mirrors.

3. They should be sure to play that during hurricane season.
And in the tornado belt. And all those mountain ski resorts that don't have any snow. And I'm sure New England will be responsive once it dries out from the flooding.

7. in the almighty dollar we trust
and all else be damned ...

the following "SCIENCE" was reported in Monday's Guardian:

Meltdown fear as Arctic ice cover falls to record winter low

Record amounts of the Arctic ocean failed to freeze during the recent winter, new figures show, spelling disaster for wildlife and strengthening concerns that the region is locked into a destructive cycle of irreversible climate change.

Satellite measurements show the area covered by Arctic winter sea ice reached an all-time low in March, down some 300,000 square kilometres on last year -an area bigger than the UK.

Scientists say the decline highlights an alarming new trend, with recovery of the ice in winter no longer sufficient to compensate for increased melting in the summer. If the cycle continues, the Arctic ocean could lose all of its ice much earlier than expected, possibly by 2030.

Experts are worried because a long-term slow decline of ice around the north pole seems to have sharply accelerated since 2003, raising fears that the region may have passed one of the "tipping points" in global warming.
