I'm really starting to like John Edwards. |
|
I've been watching what's been going on with Chris Matthews and his panel. After watching Edwards speech I have to say -- he's really touching me. He's not stirring the same type of passion that Howard Dean has -- Howard Dean motivates. Edwards instead of passion makes me feel compassion.
Clark is still my second choice but tonight Edwards is right on his heels.
Here are my thoughts:
I'm a Howard Dean supporter. I'm rooting for him in New Mexico -- he's doing pretty damn well for someone who's supposed to be dead, and someone who hasn't run any ads.
In the past I rooted for a Dean/Clark ticket, but I think it should be a Dean/Edwards or a Edwards/Dean ticket. Passion and Compassion in a blend that works best. (Or alternatively a Edwards/Clark ticket, but I'll be disappointed.)
I think Dean's strategy is going to pay off. Kerry is going to lose some momentum after tonight because the big talk is going to be about Edwards big win -- especially if he beats Clark in OK.
Right now I'm rooting for Edwards in OK, even though Clark is my second choice -- I think the smaller the field gets the better it is for Dean. Kerry is looking ahead toward Dean in the upcoming states but Edwards is coming up on his rear. Between Edwards siphoning off votes from Kerry, and Deans ability to energize the grass roots and get out the vote... Kerry is going to be hurting.
What a lot of people aren't looking at is the fact that Edwards opted for the campaigning spending limit. He'll run out of money while Howard Dean and John Kerry can keep going, and if Clark is out of the picture that leaves Howard Dean as the only alternative to John Kerry.
Kerry looks like he's going to score a touch down only to be knocked down at the half way mark.
Anyway those are my thoughts. I think it's going to widle down to three candidates Edwards, Dean, and Kerry. I think everyone will be shocked in the near future when Dean comes back into the game swinging.

I REALLY am starting to like Edwards. He has a passion (Carville says he's the best public speaker he's ever heard). If he is not the nominee, I really hope he is the vp nominee because he draws in the demographics we need to win. Blacks, moderates, and people concerned with financial security are the Democratic base.

Edwards is the best speaker at getting out his message. He articulates himself extremely well. All those years as a trial lawyer has paid off.

I am now in the Edwards camp. His speech tonight was very moving stuff. He came across as genuine --- as well as a very, very shrewd canidate. Hopefully now he will get some more REAL media attention. First it was Dean, then it was Kerry, hopefully the buzz will be all about Edwards. They seem to be spending an awful lot of air time tonight talking about Edwards.

If it wasn't for the IWR I would vote for him in the primary...
I am sticking to my guns for now however and sticking with Dean.

8. I'm in the same boat as you. |

The two main things that keep me from making Edwards my second choice are his Iraq and Patriot Act vote.
I'm Howard Dean until the end but Edwards tonight has captured a small piece of my heart. When I heard that speech something inside of me just screamed "VICE PRESIDENT"!
I could vote for Edwards in the general election. I'm not going to do it for Kerry.
Whoever wins though I hope they take Edwards as their vice president or Edwards takes Clark or Dean as his if he wins.
I think Clark though would work best as a cabinet person Secretary of Defense or Secretary of State. Either one would suit him well.

13. Edward's victory speech in SC was outstanding. |
|
I like Dean as well as my first choice. But Edwards really touched me with that speech.
One of the exit polls said one of Edwards strengths is that people feel to a large degree that he cares about their concerns. I know folks mock him over the "mill worker's son" bit, but I do think he has a sensitivity to average American's and their concerns.
Just my 2 cents......
