AND Tom Hughes explains what a hard decision this was, to endorse someone over Lieberman.
http://www.blogforamerica.com/archives/007897.html"Yesterday Democracy for America endorsed Ned Lamont over Senator Joe Lieberman in the Connecticut Democratic primary.
Choosing to take on an incumbent Democrat wasn't an easy decision to make. But -- wow! -- have you made it clear it was the right choice. Our goal was to raise Ned Lamont $25,000, but as of this morning you broke the bat and we've already passed $35,000 from over 800 contributors. Now we're raising the goal to $50,000. Can you swing the bat to bring progressive values back to Washington and make a donation to Ned today?

Like I said, DFA debated this decision. It's a big risk. Senator Lieberman is an incumbent, three-term Washington insider. He was on the national Democratic ticket in 2000 and he's won statewide races over and over. He has powerful friends in Connecticut and inside the beltway. But Senator Lieberman has fallen out of step with many of the voters who sent him to Washington. As Paul Krugman wrote in the New York Times, Lieberman "lends his support to Republican talking points, even if those talking points don't correspond at all to what most of the public wants or believes." Replacing Joe Lieberman with a Democrat who shares our values isn't going to be easy. But, with your help, Ned Lamont has a real shot to pull it off.
Ned is not a career politician. He's a successful entrepreneur who understands the value of investing in healthcare, education and infrastructure. To date, he's mounted a true grassroots campaign. He's met with DFA local leaders, listened to their concerns and ideas, and asked them to take leadership roles in his campaign. That outreach and organizing paid off last weekend, when Ned surprised the establishment by winning a place on the August primary ballot. But what is really refreshing about Lamont is his conviction that George Bush and Joe Lieberman are leading us in the wrong direction in Iraq."
Make no mistake -- this will be a tough race and Ned is the underdog. Joe Lieberman will continue to win establishment support. But the underdog now has a powerful ally of his own -- you. Thanks!
