ABC NEWS says Hastert up to his neck in Abramoff...
Edited on Wed May-24-06 05:48 PM by Rowdyboy
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/05/federal_officia.html

"The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, is under investigation by the FBI, which is seeking to determine his role in an ongoing public corruption probe into members of Congress, ABC News has learned from high level government sources.

Federal officials say the information implicating Hastert was developed from convicted lobbyists who are now cooperating with the government.

Part of the investigation involves a letter Hastert wrote three years ago, urging the Secretary of the Interior to block a casino on an Indian reservation that would have competed with other tribes.

The other tribes were represented by convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff who reportedly has provided details of his dealings with Hastert as part of his plea agreement with the government."

23. I know of one or two who are not outright crooks.
They themselves are honest. The crookery is in the policies they try to foist upon us.

Hastert seems to be involved in some serious improprieties with lobbyists from Turkey ...

so let's see, it bush gets impeached and removed from office and then cheney and then, is Hastert next? ... and then Hastert ... who's next? Frist? ... time to nail him too ...

who will be the last republican standing?? ... maybe we start a pool ...

30. The set-up is in. Condi will be made president.
Someway, somehow, I feel that the "powers that be" would like to have Condi as either the sitting VP or president for the 2008 election.

Lewis(CA), Pombo(CA), Drier?(CA), Hastert(IL). I think those are all officially under investigation by the FBI now. Is that right? Who else is there?

29. Ney, Frist (insider trading) possibly Cornyn (Abramoff) Blunt,
And we don't know how many more from the Abramoff affairs.

Then there's Hookergate ~ reports say Congressmen.

Breaking as I write this! Hastert wants the story that he is under investigation retracted!

22. And then there's Hastert's "Turkey" connection...ala Sibol Edmunds
locked and sealed testimony. Hastert is into MORE than Abramoff...there's a tie to "9/11" if one believes Edmunds.

of administration? I can't wait till it's made public and wonder if Sibol will ever get her day in court.

Edited on Wed May-24-06 08:48 PM by welshTerrier2
what's amusing about this is just a couple of days ago, Hastert got all "separation of powers"-ish about the FBI intrusion into Congressman Jefferson's office to seize to documents ... Hastert said "Rather, they (i.e. separation of powers) were designed to protect the Congress and the American people from abuses of power, and those principles deserve to be vigorously defended."

i was truly surprised ... had the republican Congress finally awakened to the abuse of power we've seen from the bush administration?

what was i thinking???!!!

little Denny was just trying to save his own guilty ass ...

35. I saw Hastert a few minutes ago on the Situation Room and,
put on a demeanor of calm- Sort of saying, 'This is just a little situation that needs to be straightened out, no biggy'. He actually said something to the effect that "That's why we have a constitution...so that peoples rights to privacy are protected...bla, bla, bla"

Once again, the repug spin- what's up is down and what's down is up.

Meanwhile, I heard that he has threatened to sue NBC for libel and slander. This guy is one of the worst!
