Just FYI: (my) Senator Clinton email regarding NSA wiretapping
I just received the following email...I don't see the kind of specific action item I would really like....But, its a tough job - being a Senator and all;

Dear Mr. **********:

Thank you for sharing with me your concerns regarding the National Security Agency's (NSA) domestic wiretapping controversy. This is an issue of grave importance to New Yorkers and all Americans.

As I have long maintained, protecting the security of our citizens and our homeland is my most important responsibility as a United States Senator. I firmly believe that we must do everything within our power to ensure that terrorist attacks never occur on our soil again. Indeed, the government must have the ability to take every measure necessary to root out terrorists. However, that does not mean that we must sacrifice our laws and Constitution in the name of security. I believe we can be both safe and free.

Like many Americans, I am deeply disturbed by recent revelations about the activities of the NSA. We all deserve to know why the Department of Justice has been barred from investigating the NSA's domestic surveillance program, and why the NSA has created an enormous database of Americans' phone records. It is the responsibility of the Congress to get to the bottom of this. I join my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in demanding answers about the NSA's domestic surveillance program and the NSA's use of Americans' phone records. We must defend our homeland while also defending and respecting our Constitution, our laws, and our privacy.

Again, thank you for contacting me about this serious issue. I hope that you will continue to share with me your thoughts and concerns. For updates on the important issues being discussed before the United States Senate, please check my website at http://clinton.senate.gov .

Sincerely yours,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

1. I hate that response.
Congressional Oath of Office:

I, Loyal Citizen of the Republic, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

*THAT* is their (the Senators) most important responsibility. Even though I like and admire Hillary Clinton, letting her use the same scapegoat language "protecting the security of our citizens and our homeland is my most important responsibility as a United States Senator" is as much an affront to the Constitution as it is when * says it. It is *not* a balancing act.
