Pentecostal Mininster turned GOP mayor's kinky crimes may cause his ouster
Mayor battles bid to oust him
Motion says complaint should be dismissed
HEIDI BERNHARD-BUBB The York Dispatch

The question of whether Wrightsville Mayor and convicted felon -- Steve Rambler is fit to hold public office should have been raised before he was elected, according to a motion for summary judgment filed yesterday in York County Common Pleas Court.

<snip>

According to the district attorney's complaint, Rambler is "not duly qualified for the office of Mayor of Wrightsville due to his infamous crime conviction." In 1996, Rambler pleaded guilty in federal court to felony extortion and was ordered to serve two years' probation and pay a $550 fine.

According to court records, Rambler solicited sexually explicit correspondence, including nude photos, from people he contacted through swingers' magazines. He then sent about 30 letters to people threatening to reveal the correspondence unless they paid him $50, records state.

5. While I think a lot of people might pay $200...
...it seems like at least someone out there thought $50 was too much and told on him. It's one of those things; you never know who'll stick up for themselves.

2. "Unless you pay me a MILLION dollars" . . .
Like Dr. Evil, this guy just had his sites set for the moon, huh? $50 blackmail? BWAHAHAHA!

I'd say - besides being an evil fuck, he's not bright enough to be mayor.

3. His election says something about the people of Wrightsville

Felton said the public was well aware of Rambler's criminal record, and there was ample time to file a complaint before the Nov. 8 election.

Local newspapers reported Rambler's felony conviction prior to the election; borough residents overwhelmingly chose him by a vote of 398-187 over Democratic opponent Dawn Lindeman. He received 68 percent of the vote. Rambler is also pastor of Wrightsville's Heritage Assembly Church of the Rock.

4. Something's wrong in Wrightsville
The mayor's statement to the press on the day of his resignation: "I'm a Rambler, not a Lincoln,' Oh wait, that was Ford who said that, not Nixon. Damn these mixed metaphors!
