Here's What Happened When I Voted |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 01:05 PM by tlsmith1963
I just got back from voting, & here is what happened. Someone had defaced the signs leading to the polling places because there were languages other than English on the signs too (in this case Spanish, Vietnamese, & Tagalog). They crossed out all the languages not in English. I told the people at the polling place that their signs had been defaced, & they said they would replace them. Then these two bozos show up. One is some old guy in a camouflage jacket with military stuff all over it, & the other was dressed normally. They made this big show of looking & sounding angry. "Give us the Republican ballots!" they growled. I almost started laughing because they were such a bad parody of far-Right conservatives. I was rolling my eyes. I also thought, Well, now we know who defaced the signs. Couldn't prove it, though, so I didn't say anything. When I left I said to myself, "Republicans suck!" They are so stupid. English is a difficult language to learn. It doesn't have a lot of clear-cut rules like other languages, & most of our words come from other languages. If you study other languages, there are definite rules. If someone doesn't like the fact that there are people here who don't know English, then why don't they volunteer & teach them English themselves? Being a stupid racist doesn't solve anything.

1. always surprises me how unsurprising some people can be. |

I think maybe it'd be fun to hang out , with a camera, nearby the replaced signs so you can immortalize the"editors" when they deface them.
How adorable to publicly humiliate them a la the woman in NYC who posted on her blog pix of the subway exhibitionist

2. It's all about intimidation and fear and trying to suppress |
|
the vote. Consider contacting your local party and letting then know you saw this. Sounds like they need some more attentive eyes at that polling place.

3. When I walked in to my polling place the |
|
election worker tried to hand me a repuke ballot. I took one look at it and dropped it as though I had been handed a pile of particularly odious dogshit as I told her, "I don't even want to touch a Republican ballot." She was wearing a red, white, and blue sparkly flag shirt and had the look of a volunteer at the nearby Reagan library. I don't think she was too happy with me.
When I finished voting on my new opti-"scam" Democratic ballot that got fed into a device that looks like a paper shredder, she didn't say anything. All the repukes were getting wished a "nice day." I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

4. IF YOU HAVE THE TIME TODAY |
|
GO BACK AND BE AN OBSERVER.
THIS IS HOW THEY ARE WINNING ALL OVER THE PLACE - THEY INTIMIDATE THE NON-REPUKES INTO LEAVING.
BRING A CLIP BOARD - TAKE NAMES. IT IS *TOTALLY* ILLEGAL TO INTIMIMIDATE ANY ONE WHI IS ABOUT TO VOTE.
THE FINE IS AT LEAST 500 DOLLARS AND ONE YEAR IN JAIL. SO TELL ANYONE WHO IS INTIMIDATING THAT YOU NEED THEIR NAME.IF YOU CHECK OUT THEIR NAME W/ THE LOCAL REGISTRAR OF VOTERS, YOU WILL BE AMAZED HOW MANY OF THESE FOLKS ARE ON THE PAYROLL...
