Bye-bye, DiFi? (California primary election today) |
|
Colleen Fernald's campaign against Dianne Feinstein is considered a long shot by many, but what's the real scoop? Does DiFi have a lock, or does Colleen have a real chance of pulling off a Ned Lamont-style political upset?

but I'll be ecstatic if she is
at a minimum I hope there is enough support for Fernald that it serves as a wake up call to Feinstein and the party

3. Kinda like a "Pat Buchanan" moment for DiFi, perhaps? |
|
Maybe it could shake some of the cobwebs out of her head, if nothing else, making way for some fresh ideas to take back to the Hill.

I voted for Fernald, but she really doesn't stand a snowball's chance.
One thing, though...
Hang on tight!!! If Busby manages to pull off a win in CA-50 and Fernald makes any kind of showing against DINO DiFi it's going to be wild ride between now and November.
If the impossible happens and Fernald comes close or wins against DiFi, there's gonna be a political seachange. The Repugs will all poop their pants.

Dianne is a lock. Name recognition and the "machine" are behind her.

6. I registered my protest vote... |
|
for Colleen against DiFi earlier today. While I expect DiFi to win handily, just like I expect Jane Harman to win handily, I still have to vote my conscience against the both of them. Go Winograd and Fernald! Hopefully their campaigns will awaken the party to act accordingly.

10. Y'know, if there's enough protest votes... |
|
...then they're not protest votes anymore. They're votes for the winning primary candidate.

7. My hubby and I just got back from voting... |
|
We each voted for Fernald, but like others have said here, we consider them to be protest votes. Hopefully, there will be enough votes for Fernald to act as a wake-up call for Di-Fi (and others), though.

9. Voted for her primary opponent Fernald today |
|
in the hopes that a loud enough protest vote would have her thinking about representing her constituents more faithfully in future.

11. DiFi's approval numbers are usually better than Boxer's |
|
so I doubt she will be defeated.

12. The real scoop is that you're dreaming if you think DiFi can be defeated. |
|
She can't be defeated or even significantly challenged. There's no comparison with the Lamont campaign -- I live in CA and I haven't seen hide nor hair of this "Colleen Fernald." Diane Feinstein is the most popular statewide politician in CA. No, I don't understand it either.

13. *sigh* You may be right... |
|
DiFi is currently pulling in 86% of the primary vote, with Fernald taking 8%. Still, that's at least 150,000 votes from pissed-off California Democrats.
On to Francine Busby!
