I know this poll is screwed up, on this same page, they think gas is 3.03 a gallon in NYC.

7. Why, I don't understand what it accomplishes to "DU" any poll.
These push polls on the internet are simply ways to put tracking cookies on your computer, nothing more. They prove nothing.

13. It accomplishes a LOT. Let me explain.
First, Republicans began organizing to "respond" to website polls in huge groups, many years ago before we libs even knew they were doing it. We libs were always amazed to see how website polls everywhere seemed to favor right wing ideology. It was as if the world had gone right wing. It wasn't. It was just that Republicans were organizing themselves and doing everything in groups, even responding to website polls. So, where 100 libs might respond to a website poll, there might be 500 Republicans responding. Every poll I've seen on AOL relating to politics, social issues and the like, gets "freeped." That means that Free Republic (a right wing online forum) tells their folks to get out there and respond to such-and-such poll. They land on a poll like flies on a carcass. That skews the polls. It's not a bad idea to straighten them out again.

What pisses me off most about polls skewed by Free Republic and other right wing organizations is that ordinary people log on, see a skewed poll, believe that's the way most Americans want things, and it sways their ideas.

By counteracting the Freepers, we are attempting to balance out the numbers in the poll, so it does not reflect an artificially derived right wing point of view. Most of the U.S. is not right wing, you know.

17. First I understand the logic behind the Freepers efforts
Second, We're skewing polls just as they are. Third, give people a little credit. Internet push polls don't change peoples attitudes, never will. Most of the US is intelligent you know.
