WASHINGTON - Gov. Jeb Bush jetted to the nation's capital today, pledging to use his persuasive powers to convince at least Florida's congressional delegation to support giving his presidential brother more veto power.
The Republican governor, who uses his veto pen with relish, spoke with reporters after a White House Roosevelt Room meeting with President Bush, who is asking Congress for the authority to veto specific items in spending bills.
The president, who met with a bipartisan group of governors, has argued that 43 governors have the authority and that it would help him rein in spending.
Florida's governor said he has used the provision to ''bring fiscal responsibility to the state budget'' -- trimming $2.1 billion over the last eight years.
''I think the president needs to have this as well,'' Jeb Bush said. ``I'm going to work with the fourth-largest congressional delegation and urge them to support this.''

Let's see...
Bob Riley (R-Alabama), Bill Owens (R-Colorado), Jeb Bush (R-Florida), Tim Kaine (D-Virginia), Sonny Perdue (R-Georgia) and Mike Huckabee (R-Arkansas)
5 Republicans and 1 Democrat seems *bipartisan enough* to me.
And the Jebster just hit a Florida veto record,
$448.7 million, by slashing critical budget items ....
....you know, we don't REALLY need to support our elderly, so Jeb
vetoed nearly $100 million in Medicaid money for nursing homes. He also
vetoed large amounts of money intended to reimburse hospitals and HMO's for treating Medicaid patients. (I suppose it would have interfered with his Medicaid privatization *revamping*, due to begin next month.)
Yeah, Jeb is in DC, beating up on our elected reps in DC to let his big brudder veto what he wants, too.
America's curse.
