Save a tree by cutting the death tax...
And now for the silliest (or perhaps the most disengenuious) column to come out of a right wing this week:

Deroy Murdock, one of our old friens at the National Review has written an article arguing that the Estate Tax should be repealed... to save trees. And cute little endangered species:

"It’s bad enough that the death tax double-taxes and sometimes triple-taxes the assets that decedents bequeath the bereaved. It also spells death for trees, endangered species, and other living things. The Senate should give Mother Nature a break and put the death tax to death — today."

1. Awww...boo hoo! We should all send Birth Tax Announcements
to Congress with pictures of newborns and the simple message:

It's a Boy! / Girl!

IOU $36,000 in Future Taxes
Due to the Death of the Inheritance Tax

2. Fox also says the rich might not help buy fireworks on the 4th if they
feel less rich because of the future estate tax that will be payable when their assets are transferred to their kids.

3. Money may be taxed more than once but the tax payer pays only one time
Edited on Thu Jun-08-06 02:28 PM by Sapere aude
The idea that the wealth is taxes over and over is so bogus. It is income to someone else so it is taxed for that reason. The money in my paycheck has been taxed so I guess by their logic I should not have to pay tax on it.
