At least Two dozen Democrats walk out on Delay's speech
(snip)
A Democrat could be heard telling colleagues to walk out of the House chamber as DeLay criticized liberals who he said stand for ``more government, more taxation, more control over people's lives and decisions and wallets.'' At least two dozen Democratic lawmakers rose and left.

(snip)
`A large part of his legacy will be a culture of corruption that he built here in the Congress of the United States,'' said Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

In compliance with his own party's rule, DeLay stepped down as majority leader, the No. 2 job, last year after he was indicted in Texas on campaign money laundering charges. His ties to former lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who has pleaded guilty in a federal bribery investigation, have come under scrutiny.

1. Nutless bastards...
...sure, they'll walk out on DeLay as he's resigning. He's safe.

Did they have the guts to do that to the President? No.

Nice "See, I have a spine" pandering.

15. ADHD's confuse a "more effective government" with "more govt."
or giving the people "MORE control over their government" with "more govt." It's the lapse in attention that misses certain crucial points in these instances.

Maybe he just needs a good drug. He should see if Rush can fix him up.

Since when do Democrats obsess over your sex life, tap your phones, tell you who you should marry, scrutinize your library choices, ogle your medical records, judge your voting elegibility or examine your household spending habits?

It's Delay's party that does those things.

5. Liberals stand for more government, more taxation and
more control over people's lives? Whaaaa?

Seems to me that it's been the Republicans who've grown the government since Bush took office, have placed more tax burdens on the most people (the middle class or what's left of it) and control people's lives by telling them when they can die, what they can do with their wombs and who they can marry.

What utter hypocrisy!

The Dems should have pointed that out as they walked out.

48. The fact that DeLay could say all that with a straight face.......
is what boggles my mind. Everything he accused the Democrats of is what his OWN PARTY has been guilty of since King George's defining moment of 9/11/01 occurred. The RepubliCONS have ruined our government, our country and indeed, the world. Yet this piece of shit has the gall to project this onto Democrats? :wtf:

Rot in hell you sick, twisted piece of shit! :grr: DeLay is on my list of, "people I hate who's grave I have to piss on". And believe me, I will and I'll enjoy draining every drop onto his final resting place. Hell, I might not even wait for him to die. If a chance meeting should occur I think I'll give him a golden shower while he's still alive. It would drive the point across much better. I've never hated a human being so much in my life as this miserable cretin!

44. What's that old saying?
The bigger the cushin' the better the pushin'?

Robin Williams noted the idiocy of anti-sodomy laws. It went something like this: if you commit sodomy, they're going to send you to a prison where you're gonna get sodomized!

Jeff Gannon could be the head bitch in that wing and DeLay could change his name from "The Hammer" to "The Hammered"!

I think that by the time this administration leaves office (or is yanked from office, whichever) we will need an entire dedicated federal prison just for them. The George Walker Bush Administration Federal Prison and Presidential Library. Of course, all of the volumes in there would be either classified or visitors couldn't get security clearance to see them.

I used to work in a prison architectural hardware plant. I've made the stuff they'd be locked behind. Even had a sample cell make up in the plant. The thought makes me smile...

his thinking when he says Democrats are for more government. One thing Republicans always say is 'Tax cuts bring in more revenue to the government'. If that's the case then aren't Republicans who want tax cuts the same people who want a bigger government?

42. Damn, that's good...
If the current Administration and Legislature been in power in World War Two, not only would we have lost the war by invading Turkey and Bangladesh, but our tax rates would have been set at 0% AND the government would have given everybody either a $600 or $1,000,000 tax refund (you can guess who gets what) every year. After all, the GOPers seem to equate "long costly War of Occupation/War Against Terror" with "cut taxes and expand government inefficiently", then such a great war as WWII would actually neccessitate a negative tax rate! Until the Germans conquered us, opened up concentration camps, and started sending blacks and gays to the ovens. Then, of course, they would be out there with Mausers and MP40s helping them along.

Of course, their plan might have been to make the government debt so bad that no nation in their right ming would want to conquer us.

31. Ironic for him to criticize "more gov't, more control over peoples' lives"
I do like one quote DeLay gave, however:

"I helped build the largest political coalition in the last 50 years. The K Street project and the K Street strategy I am very proud of."

Let's hang that one around their necks for a while. Another money:

"You show me a nation without partisanship, and I'll show you a tyranny," Mr. DeLay said, adding, "It is not the principled partisan, however obnoxious he may seem to his opponents, who degrades our public debate, but the preening, self-styled statesman who elevates compromise to a first principle."

What a telling indictment of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, FDR, Dwight Eisenhower, and practically every so-called statesman in American history who dared to place his country's interest above his partisan interest. What a fantastic way of showing the ultimate folly of treating America like we're one people, one nation under God, or the falaciousness of our so-called indivisibility.

Good one, Tom. Good one.

This is a statement by the chomeDome:
Liberals are striving for "more government, more taxation, more control over people's lives and decisions and wallets.''

THAT IS SO INCORRECT! Thats what Repukes are doing now. We will have no choice but to pay more taxes to pay off that RECORD national deficit that Dubya has caused. That will include MegaCorps and the wealthy.

More contol over peoples lives?? WTF...Repukes are in league with the bible thumpers that not only think that I shouldnt have a civil union option, but also that vaccines (HPV) may promote more sexual deviant behaviors..You can bet the farm that that is wht HIV/AIDS vaccines are slow coming..Because of Tony Perkins and cult organizations that put pressure on the CDC and other medical corps.

More Government? I dont think so, we NEED a hell of alot less Govt. I dont need senators wanting to amend the constitution just so I cant have a civil union with my lover of 13 years. ITS NONE OF THEIR DAMN BUSINESS WHO I MARRY!!!

TOM DELAY, DUBYA, Coulter..etc = WORTHLESS PIECES OF SHIT! They are whats wrongs with this country.

who knows a guy who works in the Federal Prison to which DeLay will likely be sentenced.
The guy told him that inmates named Tyrone, Jamal & Julio are already making plans for TD's "social life" when he gets to prison.
Apparently, doughy paunchy old white guys who used to be called "Hammer" are highly desirable.
