Economy, and the GOP and the County Fair
Edited on Sun Jun-25-06 01:58 AM by nadinbrzezinski
So we went to the fair and when we left at oh 14:30 it was fairly empty, for a Saturday. Perchance a canary in the mine moment? That struck me as interesting. Oh and to the booths, same shit different year but some of the regulars (computer software dealer, the Democratic Party) were not there...

Now the GOP was there, with nice sign this apron to show support to the troops... good news the booth, though they took quite a bit of real estate was far from busy. In fact it was almost empty. So I go to the ladies room and I find one of the booth people there. So I asked her, why not do something really meaningful? (Notice did not start by attacking her)

What is more meaningful?

Send actual honest to goodness CARE PACKAGES to the troops. She was a tad old for me to tell her to go join, but the care packages idea had the same effect. It looked as if I had punched her in the gut. So she looks at me with that deer in the headlights. I repeat it

You KNOW the expense of that?

Yep, I send packages all the time, some to troops we know, some to troops we don't know. So yes it ranges after all is said and done between $60 and $150.00, perfectly aware of it, but the stuff I am sending are not available in theater.

Folks her deer in the headlights moment was precious. I was almost expecting her to pull the usual crap, at which point I had that mickey mouse canoe card ready to go.

1. yes
I confront the conservaties at work with those SUPPORT THE TROOPS magnets on their cars - that is the extent of their support, sporting a magnet. I've had a bit of sucess getting some of them to send packages.
