For non-Kerry Supporters: Say something good about Kerry |
|
Kerry is actually at the bottom of my list...for me it's Clark, Dean, Edwards and then Kerry for the major candidates.
However, Kerry's doing very well in the primaries, and he's beating Bush in the polls. So...lemme throw out 3 good things about a Kerry Candidacy/Presidency.
1 - He's an insider. This is actually a good thing - the Democrats haven't had an insider in the White House for a while. As a result, our presidents have always had an uneasy relationship with Democratic Congressmen. And as a result of that, it was very hard to get anything done.
Kerry is an insider, and will get things done. Enough people owe him favors on both sides. Don't believe me? Look at how much got done (better or worse) under Johnson. He was the ultimate insider.
2 - He's taller. I'm not being snide here - the main thing is he's taller than Bush. At the risk of sounding cliche, the taller man usualy wins the election.
3 - It will be nice to say I lived under a JFK presidency. Ok, here I'm being humorous - but there are some striking similarities between Kerry and Kennedy. Both were products of the Massachusetts political machine, both had connections to rich Democrats and unions, and both were excellent at what they do.
Although Kerry's not my first choice for president, he's a damn fine Senator, and despite his IWR vote, he's been on the right side of history most of the time.
Anyway...throw yours out.

and Kerry is one of 3 candidates that can definitely win in November. (The other 2 being Clark & Edwards. Lieberman could have won too, but he's gone now.)

6. He's on the correct side of the aisle! |
|
Also, he's tall and has a sort of commanding presence compared with Prince Chimp. He didn't duck out of Vietnam (although to be honest, I would have ducked out and encouraged anyone I loved to have ducked out too...)
He's from Massachusetts and seems to have made good friends with other Senators I strongly support (Kennedy).
I'm, I'm really trying! Oh yeah, one more thing: I think he can beat the Chimp

10. How about he's pro-choice, pro-environment...has a great liberal record |
|
I think it's sad that people want to forget all of that stuff simply because of how f*cked up the last 3 years have been politically. Prior to that Kerry was the personification of a liberal senator. Now people want to pretend that stuff doesn't exist and say things like "Oh well the best thing about him is he's presidential". Bunch of self serving petty BS if you ask me.
I'm not even a Kerry supporter per se beyond the fact that I will vote for whoever the nominee is.

a brief review of the posts on this thread inform me of why the left will never have any real controlling interest in any nation...it must be their ability to form coalitions.

struck me as a bit of light comedy. I don't think you need to worry that it's indicative of huge problems down the road. If anything, I think a complete LACK of humor has done quite a disservice to the left.

That's a big issue with me and one reason I can vote for Kerry. Among the other reasons, is the fact that he is not Bush.
