Bush`s Underclass....clinging to a raft in view of a cruise ship
It`s a scheme fit for a king. Fresh grapes and roasted pigs, silver goblets and velvety chairs. Sit down. Relax. Rub your belly and praise the Era of the Have Mores.

Raise the minimum wage? That`s a pooh-pooh idea if I ever heard one. Hold the line on college loan interest? What? And make up for it by robbing the ten percenters? Why do you think ladders were invented? Simple. So we`d have something with rungs, some new way to measure things, a societal yardstick where value starts after the 36. It`s the American Dream....a system by which even a single mother living in a camper in once-flooded Mississippi can one day be Secretary of State. That`s why we don`t need Congress to help out. We have dreams.

America is a busy place. Redistricting, restructuring, realigning, reapprortioning, even retraining. One day a flood and with the snap of a Have More finger, a casino! Another day a worn out Mom and Pop deli with a couple of salamis hanging and presto! A new community with hand-wrought gates. Gates with matching lions or cypress trees. Why should Congress upset the applecart with pressurizing demands? They have bigger fish to fry and scheduled Renaissance Weekends.

It`s a "correction." Like chessmen knights capturing the pawns. Like recruiters winning over the boys from the barrio. It`s all about the cruise ship, that exhilarating choice between shuffleboard and roast duck. It`s about setting an example for those on the raft. Even they can dog paddle toward a legacy. It`s a brilliant upper deck, box seat strategy. A glorious culling that will transform America. Congress is doing the right thing by concentrating on symbols like our flag or in insisting that the Raft People never cut and run. It`s a kingdom reigned by Bush`s Bootstrap Model, the model by which he himself rose up from a tiny Connecticut village and ended up as ruler of two countries. So, the Raft People will see their day. All it will take is a little more clinging.

5. Well said! And that's a good analogy,
"clinging to a raft in view of a cruise ship"
