I Think Hillary Has Peaked and Become Irrelevant Already |
|
IMHO, Senator Clinton has decided that the Senate is her natural home, and New York is indeed her home state. She doesn't look, act, or resemble a Presidential candidate. And that is fine. It is good to know where one's competence lies, and to do a good job that is worth doing.
The good Senator from New York State is a spiffy fundraiser, but I think she's going to use that money to support other people who need the funds, build a great network of favors, and then run the Senate as Majority Leader with an iron hand in a velvet glove. And that is fine. We need that.
I may be entirely wrong, and that would be par for the course. But in the ideal world, this arrangement would be the best of all possibilities.

2. I want the next Democratic President to put her name before the Senate |
|
...as a SCOTUS candidate. I'd like a Democratic Senate to confirm her by overwhelming majorities, to the point where they could do it with a voice vote.
She'd have to take the bench as JUSTICE HILLARY RODHAM (no Clinton) because that is the name on her law degree.
The howls of the wingnuts would be music to my ears.

4. As Long As She Straightens Out the Senate First, That's Fine With Me! |
|
Leap-frogging into the court without a national mandate would be a tough act for anyone not a Bushbot, let alone a woman. I would like to see her grow before putting her in charge. besides, the Court's got too many young ones.

She'd have eight years in the Senate before my scenario could take hold. I'd like her to keep her marbles and serve into her hundreds....!

6. Well I'm not sure that I wouldn't like her... |
|
We all know she'd do an infinitely better job than anyone from the other side of the aisle could possibly do... but some of her stances don't sit well with me... so I'd rather someone more progressive take that role, personally.

But, Bill wouldn't be out pushing as hard for her if she wasn't running. You'll know if or when she decides to opt out -- Bill will sit down and shut up, and probably on the fast track to formally being the EX-Mr. Hillary.

10. i think its your wishful thinking intruding. |

she is just treading water now and when the time comes she will take off down the pool.
i know a lot of us are not crazy about her but I still think she would make a decent and sensible president. and she is tough enough to fight for it.

11. If She Wants to Run for President, |

a term or two as governor would be very very helpful. I'm a believer in that principle anyway, but in her case it would really redefine her politically.
I also like the SCOTUS suggestion.

12. I'm planing to vote for her in the 2008 primary if she runs |
|
1. Everyone knows all the "scandals" about her. She's swiftboat proof in that sense, and she's tough enough to respond to any of those types of attacks against her. Kerry wasn't that tough.
2. Minority voters like her.
3. He husband is one of the best campaigners ever. He will give her good advice and really, having been president already, is one of the only men who could handle the whole "First Gentleman" thing without looking emasculated.
4. She can beat anyone the GOP puts up against her, except McCain or Rudy. There's no way Rudy will ever get the nomination, being prochoice and all. McCain probably won't get it either.
If Hillary picks the right running mate, she could win. All she has to do is win all the states Gore won, and pick up either Arkansas or Florida.

14. John Edwards' recent first-place showing in the Des Moines REGISTER's |
|
poll says HClinton is beatable, despite the mainstream media's slobbering all over her.
She will get a bump in November when she crushes her opponent in a major blue landslide in New York State. Spitzer and Clinton will sail to near-record victories in NY and the ripple effect will ignite her viability as a presidential candidate again.
But I don't think she's going to be the nominee.
