9. I agree-- DK is the one politician that I have no reservations about...
There are others I would support for one reason or another-- Feingold, for example, and certainly a number of other "fantasy candidates" like Boxer or Conyers-- but Dennis Kucinich is my number one choice and has been for several years. There is no one else I could so unreservedly support.

16. Thanks!
Dennis is the reason I re-entered the political world. I worked on his 2002 run and found him to be the ONLY true progressive in the race. I support his proposed "Department of Peace" to counter the "War Department" (I know that is the old name but it is more honest then defence).

11. Academic discussion
Do we really think the MSM and the real bosses of our party would 'allow' Dennis to win the nomination? I think not. Just remember what they did to Dr. Dean.

13. I understand...
However, to me, there have to be people willing to take big risks in order to make big changes. Yes, the party bosses and the MSM would be out in full force against him. But many people have since then realized just how much of a role the MSM played in Dean's slide after that one incident.

The really aggravating thing, to me, is that it's not the party bosses nor the MSM who ultimately matter... it's the VOTERS... it was the VOTERS who watched the media's BS about Dean and said to themselves "oh he'll never make it, I'd better stick with a 'safe' candidate".

The MSM is not to blame... it's the voters who follow their lead who are to blame. Once people get fed up with more of the same, they will eventually stop being led around by the nose like a bunch of dozy cattle and stand up for THEMSELVES.

40. Sure. That's why he wasn't nominated in '04.
The "unelectable" drumbeat drowned his campaign out. The choosing "electable" over "best" strategy sure served us well then, didn't it?

48. In all honesty,
I don't think any democrat was "electable" in '04, because the election fraud concerns were not addressed before the votes were cast. That being the case, I don't know why "electability" was used to denigrate some, and promote others. At least Kucinich was willing to take the issue on. I wish more people would have listened.

58. And the biggest reason he can't win
Is that liberals don't stand by their own because of negative attitudes like "he's unelectable." If everyone who voted for Nader in 2000 had voted for Kucinich in the New Hampshire primary then he would have been in the top two, which would have made him a top tier candidate. Liberals are their own worst enemy.

60. That's the Truth.
How many people are willing to dive right in and continue the "I love him but he can't win" shit? That's no way to support someone who has been working without strings, without excuses, for liberal issues.

When one of the "electable" Democrats repeats, years late, what DK has said, and acted on, all along, suddenly that's a "legitimate" position?

25. The 2004 campaign was very hard on him
I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to go through that, nor for wanting to spare his new wife the abuse heaped on Judy Dean (she'd rather be a country doctor than a prop for her husband's campaign? The horror!!) and Teresa Kerry (she says what's on her mind? The horror!!).

The real question is whether his supporters can build the campaign structure necessary for that to actually happen. Given that personal contact is the only way to do an end run around overwhelming media slander, we'd need a far larger organization than required for someone more palatable to The Powers That Be. Dennis won the three counties in North Carolina in which he campaigned personally, so all we'd have to do is find a way to duplicate that effect in most of the counties in the country. :dilemma: I'm not at all sure we can do that.

28. He also won several precincts in Minneapolis and
a few other places. The Minnesota corps of volunteers was awesome, giving Dennis 17% statewide, and I am proud to have played a very small role.

The perceived liberality of the state or district had nothing to do with the percentage of votes he got: it was strictly due to the skill and zeal of local campaigners. He did poorly in Madison, Wisconsin, but much better in small towns like Ashland and Viroqua, where he had an eager set of volunteers.

He did well in Washington and poorly in Oregon, well in Maine and poorly in New Hampshire. He did well in Hawaii, where he was the only candidate to visit twice. He did surprisingly well in Utah.

All in all, he did better where he got his message out either personally or through tireless volunteers than in places that were dependent on the MSM for their information.

30. There is a very simple reason to vote for Dennis Kucinich in a primary
He's earned it.

He's never sold out to corporations.

He's never decided to back down from standing up for what is right because some poll or focus group said it wasn't such a hot idea.

I can't think of an instance where he has let me down since 2003-2004 when I began to notice and follow him.

Is he a long shot? Yep. Don't care.

All I know is that among all the potential primary candidates, he is the one who most DESERVES my vote, so he'll get it. It's that simple.

Yeah, people called it unrealistic and silly back in '03. Its nice that Kerry, Feingold and others finally come around. People thought he was "out there" when he said Bush was lying about WMD's in Iraq back in '02. He isn't naive, he's prophetic.

Very bright and bold (as Dennis signs always are)

It had Kucinich in large letters in the center and above and below his name it said

"TELL GEORGE BUSH"

KUCINICH

"TO GET OUT OF IRAQ"

the OzarkDem boy and his friend cheered loudly when they saw it, now I have to get one for our yard.
