Video clip of Dean's Tucson visit yesterday...good crowd.
http://www.kold.com/Global/story.asp?S=5099214

"We are done with the idea that Arizona is some kind of conservative state. Arizona is a middle of the road thoughtful state," Dean said.

Prezelski explained, "I think there's a consciousness nationally that this is finally becoming a two party state again."

His visit to the Old Pueblo is part of a campaign swing that also includes stops in Maryland and Wisconsin.

Dean told hundreds of Democrats, "We can win in these places but we got to reach out to people and knock on their doors. It goes door by door."

1. More on reaching out and going places people call red.
http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/135946

"At the beginning Dean promised to "have some fun at the president's expense."

And have fun he did, rallying the crowd with the party's positions on issues such as health care and foreign policy.

But later Dean said that for Democrats to win it's going to take more than talking to each other.

"If we're really going to win, it's not going to be in here," he said, encouraging the crowd to talk to their neighbors about issues. Dean told the crowd to embrace new ideas, like talking to evangelical Christians and recruiting racial-minority candidates."

He is willing to take chances in reaching out, and that is a good thing.

3. I looked for more video footage-
Seeing that he said he'd be having "some fun at the president's expense" and remembering how fun that can be to watch, I went to YouTube and searched "Howard Dean".

Did you know that the first page of hits is filled with hit pieces on him! It's nuts. There are 5 or 6 Iowa entries. There's one where Coulter said he's in line to lead al qaeda, and one where COLMES reports about a young repub contest to imitate the "scream". (The only place not mentioned in their lists of "we're going to..." was Iraq)

And they're all posted recently. How screwy is that? Everything increases my confidence in his strategy. They hate him. ;)

4. He's on their hit list because he is going after red states, evangelicals.
I saw one blog which announced that Governor Dean was trying to talk to Christians, and it was not going to work. One said Praise Jesus,Howard Dean has found the Lord.

It is absolutely crazy the way the right wing blogs are covering this. I am saving some of them because I think they are loony. He is infringing on the territory they claim as theirs.

No more video though. Someone posted this elsewhere.

7. It is funny when you click on a link and see people you know
quoted in the paper. It is also funny when you see someone you know in a photo of an event.

:)

9. Well, whoever you know in the picture...
is in a very happy picture. It's a good one.

Looked like a great event. He was in Milwaukee the day before, and I can not imagine keeping a schedule like that. I would pulling my hair out.

10. Dean is always good for an event. And he comes to AZ a lot.
Must like the weather. Or something.

6. One great thing about Dean is that he doesn't let the Pugs get
to him; he loves to rattle their cage.

8. Dean said something about a Democratic congresswoman and
a friend of mine posted it on his blog so the people who are paying attention to this one congressional race went completely insane.

I really found this to be bizarre.
