Dear Vice President Gore:

Americans from every corner of our nation are calling on you. Please listen to our plea and run for the Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States in 2008.

Never before has America needed a leader of your stature, vision and experience more than now. The next presidential election will be the most crucial one in our history, and you are the only Democrat who can unite the country and lead us to victory. And this country -- indeed, the entire world -- cannot afford anything less.

Our nation and the planet itself are entering “a period of consequences,” as you so well stated in “An Inconvenient Truth,” but in more ways than one. We are ruled by a government of the powerful and for the powerful -- a government that tramples our Constitution, wages unjust war in our name, sacrifices our economic future, and puts our very planet on the endangered species list.

America and the world need you now more than ever. Be our candidate. Run for president. And we pledge that we'll be there for you every day until the last vote is counted.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned,

1. For Preseident in 2008?
Ahem. This is 2006. There's absolutely NO reason to draft Gore for President in 2008. It's two freaking years from now before the campaign gets into high gear.

Wait until Summer 2008. If Gore isn't running on his own. then, and ONLY then, can we talk about drafting Gore.

Waste of time right now. Get to work on the midterms.

4. But if he opts to run when the time comes
There's no need to draft him, is there?

It's not a matter of multitasking; it's a matter of waiting until the campaign begins before talking about fucking drafting somebody.

Let him decide by himself. We've got two years!!!!!

No. I will not sign your draft Gore petition.
Ask me again in the summer of 2008.

10. Didn't people try this in 2004?
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 07:04 AM by MercutioATC
If the man wants to run, he'll run. He's made it clear that he doesn't want to.

Knock yourself out, but I think it's silly.

(oops, meant to reply to the OP...sorry)

2. done...
I do like a lot of Al's views....

my comments...

Mr. Gore,

The office of the President of the United States needs a very good man, or woman to fill its position. I have liked a majority of your views in the past, and the present, and would glady support you if you choose to run for president again. Thank you for your time, and consideration. XXXXX

6. No.
Gore couldn't beat the stupidest man ever to run for the office. He had his chance and he blew it.

8. Gore won the 2000 election
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 04:32 AM by Apollo11
Nobody disputes the fact that Gore won the popular vote in 2000. Despite the fact that he started out way behind in the polls. Gore's campaign was seriously damaged by Clinton's inappropriate (ab)use of a vulnerable star-struck intern, and the negative impact on public perception of the Clinton-Gore Administration. Gore was also hurt by lies spread in the media about his so-called "exagerrations" (based on quotes taken out of context and then twisted). G.W.Bush ran as a compassionate conservative who promised to restore integrity to the Oval Office and stop America from getting mixed up in foreign wars (OK - so it sounds nuts now - but many folks bought it in 2000).

Most of us believe that the Republicans stole the 2000 election by rigging the vote count in Florida. Personally I am convinced that if all the votes in Florida had been counted in line with voter intent, Gore would have won the state, and therefore the electoral college. Unfortunately, Gore was the victim of a theft perpetrated by the Bush family and their friends (Cheney, Baker, Harris & co.) backed-up by a majority on the US Supreme Court. For 36 long days Gore fought to rectify the vote count in Florida, exploring every avenue that was open to him. Gore did not concede until it became clear that there were no further legal moves that could prevent Bush from being inaugurated.

In Gore We Trust :)
