Traitor Joe running as an Independent validates Democrats dumping |
|
him in the primary.
We dumped him because it seemed to many of us that he was too much like a republican. We were afraid that he might sell Democrats out on close, critical Senate votes.
Now, he is running as an Independent against the Democratic nominee, giving the republican candidate a much better chance at taking over his Senate seat.
Obviously, Democrats did the correct thing by ousting Lieberman in the primary.
We believed he could not be trusted, and we were correct. How very sad.
"Say it ain't so, Joe"

3. All establishment politicians will behave in this manner |
|
These guys are not going to run off because we say, "Boo!!"
It took a looooong time to get rid of Tom Delay and I don't think getting rid of Lieberman will be easy either. Beating him in the primary was just the beginning. All things being equal, I don;t think Democrats need be sensitive to Joes "feelings" on this. Joe never gave one shit about the voters and its rather telling of his actions.
He's embraced the Republican smear tactics against his own party. He should be kicked out with haste.

4. No, Joe's running doesn't help the Republicans |
|
If anything, Joe's running as an independent is the only thing keeping the Republicans from fielding a stronger candidate.
Perhaps you can't stand the fact that the 85% of the electorate that didn't participate in the primary will now get do choose between a liberal Democrat and a moderate Democrat. Personally, I wish life were always that easy.

Maybe this will get me kicked out of what is becoming an increasingly intolerant Democratic Underground, but I like Joe Lieberman! The man speaks his mind and makes decisions based on what he thinks is best for the country, unlike some politicians who want to know where the political winds are blowing before making any decision.
It appalls me that folks who say they are Democrats are so ready to eat their own, if they don't get their own way on every issue. Perhaps Lamont will be elected and will become the next senator from Connecticut, perhaps not. But let us NOT run Lieberman out of the party and force him to allign himself with the Republicans! After all, he could very well win re-election this fall!
My point is that I want to see the Democrats take control of the Senate, and driving away one of our own would be a catastrophe for the party. It appalls me to see the vitriol directed against a fine man like Joe.

7. "driving away one of our own"? |
|
Uh, he lost his party's primary. Only one other incumbent Senator in this nation's history was so full of himself that he continued running and he got his ass handed to him (Jacob Javits in 1980).

So I'm afraid you aren't going to get much sympathy around here. But at least I agree with you, so you aren't completely alone.

Candidates funded by Republicans are Republican. A vote for Joe is a vote for Rove.

9. No real Democrat could ever be forced to align her/himself with |
|
the republicans.
Republicans are more of a threat to the people of the US than all terrorist groups on this planet combined. They are destroying our country economically, socially, politically, and morally.
Joe Lieberman running as an Independent against the nominee of his own (alleged) party is the very reason that he lost the primary: Democrats did not believe that they could trust him to protect their interests - and now we know this for sure.
