A mother told me a secret I wasn't
suppose to know. I was petitioning in downtown Denver a woman signed my petition and told me that she was celebrating. I asked about what? She said her son was back from Iraq. I told her I was thrilled he came back safely and she said Yes, he will be in the states for a year and then he is heading to IRAN I said you mean..back to Iraq? She said NO.....he is going to IRAN in a year.

Have a nice day!

2. Seems awfully assumptive
of our military.

Not only do the Iranians have a say
in the matter.. but China and Russia do too.

I never in my life wished for a coup.. but it
seems that may be the only way to save the country

3. I live in a 'military' apartment complex
and have heard the same thing.

The military is preparing to go into Iran. Quietly, but sit on a few porches, cook some BBQ and drink some beers with these 20-something Army/AF/Marine/Navy folks down here for training and the word gets out.

They don't like it. They don't like Iraq. But they will follow orders. That is what they have been trained to do.

how this is possible. We have 2 wars going on and no money or troops to do this....maybe we will get lucky and the military leadership will tell * to stick it?

9. I won't take that bet
We all know they are crazy. A lot has to do with whether Iran starts the oil bourse
quote.....
Petro-Dollar

Another threat against the dollar comes from countries such as Iran and Venezuela. Iran recently registered an Oil Bourse to compete with Bourses in New York and London. The threat comes from the currency in which the oil is to be sold in Euro. Iranians are going to make the Euro the standard currency for oil transactions. Some sympathetic countries such as Venezuela and others may join in. If the Iranians succeed in this, the pressure on dollar will be catastrophic. Nearly every country has to hold a certain amount of dollars in reserve for oil purchases. If the dollar continues to weaken in value, and there is the possibility of purchasing oil in Euro, then these countries would unload their dollars for safer currencies such as Euro. What will then happen to the value of dollar?

end quote..........

Sorry about source but good article

Most of the big 401(k) brokers have them. I started doing that when I read about Cheney and also Bill Gates investing heavily in them.

8. Iran... al Gebra
I kept hanging Explorer as I tried to find your post on 1979. Imagine that. But this will persist! Had to join to reply, through smilies and emoticons... then it was gone, over and over. This will PERSISt.

Yes, I remember. Yes,I remember why. Yes, I am white, American and female. Yes, Savak is here in this country by another name. Yes, Casey was killed. Yes, Bush took over (then). Yes, the Shah was silenced and killed; he knew too much, and we can't have that. Yes, this is a country of Cretins.

Yes, they have achieved their means, no one knows history. A few awaken. Judging by the replies to this post on the mother in Denver, maybe two?

Thanks you, Farsi speakers, thank you Persian people. We would not be who we are, great technologists of this declining age. We would not know Betelgeuse from Antares; we would not know calculus from Algebra (oops, is that a terrorist group?)

Here's a great news item, the best I've seen in *years*, and thank you, again,

NEW YORK

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. Al-gebra is a problem for us," Gonzalez said. "They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns,' but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to every triangle.'"

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said, "If God had wanted us to have better Weapons of Math Instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes." White House aids told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the president.

to train Israelis on weapons we have sold them. The US has never stationed combat troops in Israel, at least not openly.

Would it then seem that the US is expanding from advisors to regular troops? I don't know enough about the military to guess.

43. Personally, I doubt either the US or Israel would want that
Here, there are many who accuse the US of being a puppet of Israel, while in Israel who accuse their government of doing whatever the US says. The stationing of US troops in Israel other than as what one might call a "sales representative" would just provide fodder for opponents of the close US-Israel relationship in both countries.

41. I don't know - I asked her if she would be on a UN peace
keeping mission and she said no. She is being trained as an MP, by the way.

Basic and three months of MP training and off to Israel - I wished her well. She is from Texas, a minority, and is excited that her military service will allow her to go to college.

I spoke with her in the Atlanta airport and is, as the young can be, absolutely without fear. As she walked away to catch her flight I found I had tears in my eyes. I wanted to hug her but she would of thought I was nuts.

13. You should've seen the faces on the troops on our local news tonight...
301 troops from Alaska, who just returned home last month, are heading back to Baghdad.

They'll be the first Stryker unit to operate in Baghdad.

The looks on their faces.. and their families faces on our local news tonight was so sad!

22. Okay, now it is clear to me
that there will be great publicity of our *win* in Iraq very soon and the troops will leave there (for the most part) to be moved to Iran. That explains why so many troops have recently gone back to Iraq. Get ready for the victory marches, it is soon coming. Have known that we were going to Iran for a year or so, just couldn't figure out why so many were being sent to Iraq right now.

Can almost see his press conference now...

Well, we are out of Iraq but into Iran, we have to defend Iran from the insurgents, help the freedom fighters...

Sickening, totally.

Just as I don't doubt certain units are already in every country of interest in the ME. Go to any bar in Fayetteville, NC (Bennigans used to be the hangout of choice for SO types) and you can hear these stories. Color me unsurprised if this woman's son doesn't have his stay at home shortened considerably.

26. US combat troops are already in Iran
the following is from last April's Seymour Hersh article in the New Yorker where he disclosed US combat troops have already been stationed inside Iran to help map targets for a future attack by the US:

source: http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/articles/060417fa_fact

The Bush Administration, while publicly advocating diplomacy in order to stop Iran from pursuing a nuclear weapon, has increased clandestine activities inside Iran and intensified planning for a possible major air attack. Current and former American military and intelligence officials said that Air Force planning groups are drawing up lists of targets, and teams of American combat troops have been ordered into Iran, under cover, to collect targeting data and to establish contact with anti-government ethnic-minority groups.

39. The guy who helps manage this self-storage place where we have
a small locker said that, too, fairly early in 2002. He had a relative who was in the military, who told family members he was being sent to Iraq - back when we were all busy trying to stop an unnecessary war from starting.

Um... the troops themselves do seem to get the word. If it came from one of them, I'd take it seriously.
