Another "Family values kinda of a guy - lying before the committee to get the position, cheating on his wife, and the whole family on Phillip Morris' payroll - where do the repugs find these people?
Blunt Lied To Colleagues And Media During Majority Leader's Race Over Wife's StatusBy Roy Temple
Created 08/15/2006 - 8:47am
During his race for Majority Leader, Rep. Roy Blunt told the Washington Post and his colleagues that his wife, Abigail Perlman, no longer lobbied the Congress, and hadn't since September 28, 2005.
From a January 11, 2006 Washington Post story:
The stories are numerous. Just hours after Blunt was named to the House's third-highest leadership job in 2002, he unsuccessfully tried to insert a measure benefiting Philip Morris into the 475-page bill creating the Department of Homeland Security. Blunt's ties to the company are thick: He was very close to a company lobbyist, Abigail Perlman, at the time, and married her in 2003. She does not lobby Congress. One of his sons, Andrew B. Blunt, lobbies the Missouri legislature for Philip Morris.
That's not true.
Blunt made this representation because he was under intense scrutiny during the Majority Leader's race over special legislative favors he had performed for Phillip Morris during the time of his
adulterous affair (emphasis added) with Ms. Perlman, a Phillip Morris lobbyist.
However, the latest lobbyist disclosure statements show that Ms. Perlman continues to lobby both the House and the Senate, <2> contrary to Blunt's representations.
