Help...Why did the minimum wage bill fail? |
I know that the republican push was to add an issue that we Democrats would not accept.... What was the issue they added on to the Bill? I,m at a party and cannot recall the key reason to vote it down.

2. There was another amendment.... |
...that would have prohibited states from having tipped workers covered by the same minimum wage as regular employees, which is now the case in seven states. This would have led to actual minimum wage cuts for tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of workers now, in exchange for future minimum wage increases years for now.

...but while the estate tax payoff would be immediate (as soon as the bill was signed), the minimum wage hike would be a graduated kick-up that would take a decade to take full effect (by which time, it'd be not enough anyway). In other words, it was a sham of a bill.

4. And I believe the Dems had an ammendment to another bill |
back in May and the Republicants killed it in committee. This was of course before they had the brainstorm to give workers $2 and Paris Hilton $2billion. Republicants - I love that term.
