Republican Hounded Down the Street by Unhappy Voters
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 07:28 PM by Rose Siding
Ex-7 term congressman and current lobbyist Toby Roth opposes the war as only a wingnut can; he thinks God might punish us by making Hillary president. He's also très fanatique about making English the national language.

So of course this would have been a sight to behold:

Roth is president of The Roth Group, a Washington lobbying firm...Now 67 years old, he has traveled around the country with Republican congressional candidates....

He says it has been an education.

"There's no apathy out there," he said. "There is deep-seated hatred."

In a small town in Minnesota, Roth went door-to-door campaigning for a candidate and was surprised when three different people followed him down the street to tell him how unhappy they were with all incumbents.

In Kentucky, one voter told Roth that he had a lot of nerve campaigning for congressmen when Congress hadn't done a thing about the immigration issue.

"There's a real feeling of discontent, and it's deeper than one issue," said Roth.

Yes, as Republicans criss-cross the country this campaign season peddling their exclusive brand of unending war, bigotry and failure, there's a little bit of venting going on. Imagine!

1. If the Dems do not get a big win this fall, we will know that there
is something seriously wrong with this country.

10. Well, we already know that there is.
But note that the voters are generally angry, at all incumbents, so Democrats won't necessarily make any great gains if they're held equally to blame, or moreso, by their constituents than Republicans are by theirs.

7. This part's a reel hoot.....
<snip>

"It's going to spread hatred of our country for the next 100 years," said Roth, who passed through the Green Bay area last week to stump for Republican candidates. "We should be looking for friends."

And here's what he thinks is going to happen because of the war.

God's punishment

"God will punish America because of the war," he said. "If there's a God in heaven and I believe there is, he'll punish America."

The punishment, he suggests, could be the election of Hillary Clinton as President of the United States.

"I don't want to predict," he said, saying he didn't see a rapid end to the war. "But watch out."
