Who's contacted their Senators (Re:S.2590 hold)?
I just got off the phone with a nice guy named Scott in Sen. Kyl's Phoenix office.

They refused to answer whether or not Sen. Kyl is the one who placed the hold and instead asked me my opinion on the bill.

When asked when Sen. Kyl was going to issue a statement, the reply was "I dunno. Call back tomorrow?"

....interesting.

Porkbusters has updates from a little over 50 Senators and will be updating throughout the day.

McCain already said no.

1. I called Levin and it isn't him,
Stabenow's office is trying to find out where she stands.

2. It would pretty much have to be a GOP
because even if this bill hurts them, they'd be more inclined to make political hay by outing a Democrat who tried to do a one man filibuster. On the Dem. side, the chief suspect would be Byrd, long famous as the King of Pork until the GOP got all 3 branches.

On the GOP side, they're all suspects, but tops on the list would have to be "bridge to nowhere" Stevens, followed by Vacant Lott. Domenici is not out of the running, especially since he's stated he'll retire after this term. He has nothing to lose.

It will be fun to watch this one develop. Thanks for the link.

3. Chuck Schumer has assigned a specific Office mouse to
"deal with questions about S 2590" And your call gets connected to an answering machine... No one else will deal with it.

His picture should go from the "suspect" section to a "VERY suspect" section...

4. Cornyn is a co sponsor so I suppose he is not a suspect.

I'll call KB Hutchison and ask.

Edit: they are going to get back to me.
