Add tennis fans to Bill O'Reilly's enemy list? |
|
It seems Bill O'Reilly showed up at the Agassi vs Baghdatis tennis match where he was loudly booed by 20,000+ tennis fans. http://www.eyesonfox.org/?p=61

3. O'Reilly's ratings are sinking like a stone, though. |
|
"For the first time in recent memory, Hannity & Colmes has bested The O'Reilly Factor in the 25-54 demographic for an entire month. In August, FNC's 9pm show averaged 508,000 demo viewers, 14,000 more than Bill O'Reilly's 494,000 at 8pm." http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/aug_s_oreilly_no_longer_1_in_the_demo_hannity_colmes_tops_the_factor_42967.asp

5. Most of Fox News' shows dropping while competitors gain a bunch |
|
Very true. I've pointed this out on my web site.
What's interesting is in the 'demo' (as it's called) Hannity & Colmes and The O'Reilly Factor have been close for at least a year. What appears to be happening is H&C is hemorrhaging viewers slower than The Factor in the demo. Overall, of course, O'Reilly trounces all comers on cable news.
Fox News is losing viewers by the bucket full. Look at overall audience. Many Fox News shows are seeing double-digit declines. But this isn't some general industry trend. MSNBC and CNN are gaining a bunch. Sometimes with triple-digit gains.
Granted, some of this is statistical anomaly. Fox News' competitors have a smaller audience so any gain in numbers will be amplified as a percentage. But this is a trend that's been going on of a while. The gap, while still large, is shrinking.
Normally, you'd think right-wing political junkies would be tuning in by the droves because the mid-term elections are coming up. But with the prospects for Republicans grim, even Fox News is spinning the story one of cheer-leading for moderate Democrats in order to minimize what they view as a catastrophe: a liberal takeover of government.
