House panel asks HP security manager to testify

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee
said on Tuesday it asked a Hewlett-Packard security official and a private
investigator hired by the company to testify at a hearing next week on HP's
investigation into media leaks.

Rep. Ed Whitfield, a Kentucky Republican who heads the investigations
subcommittee, said he sent letters on Monday asking Anthony Gentilucci,
HP's global security manager, and Joe Depante, a private investigator from
Florida, to also testify.

The House panel hearing is part of its seven-month inquiry into data brokers
and a practice known as "pretexting," which involves deception to gain access
to information that is not publicly available and without the victim's consent.
