What's the difference in What Chavez said and what Annie Coulter says? |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 06:02 PM by KoKo01
It seems kind of an Hypocracy of the Media and Pundits to suggest that when Chaves crosses himself because or the odor of sufur that eminates from Bush that Coulter get's praise for her book about "Godless Liberals?"
Why is it that the MSM never gets the word HYPOCRACY!
I'm glad that Chavez can be a HERO to many on the LEFT because he SAYS THE TRUTH...Odor du Sulfur and drunk...because it's TRUE! Yet Coulter can LIE about MY LIBERAL PHILOSOPHY calling "ME" and "OTHER" Church Go'ers on the LEFT as GODLESS?
Does anyone else see this as a very odd thing? Chavez as an Elected Official...and Coulter as a NOBODY...but Coulter has CREDIBILITY and CHAVEZ is TRASHED? I'm glad to see, though that Chavez's pormotion of Chomsky's book now makes in an Amazon Best Seller...giving Coulter and O'Lielly a run for their money!

1. I'm sure that if Coulter was standing in front of the UN and saying what |
|
she does, she'd get "trashed" too.

5. No, I'm not kidding. And don't call me Shirley. |

There's a time and a place for everything, and Chavez sounded like a schoolyard bully. (Yes, I know that Bush always sounds like that, but that doesn't make it right.)

14. I'm a little late to this party... |
|
as I dismissed all the previous brou-ha-ha over Chavez, the UN, and Bush...as just another dog and pony show. I admire the truthfulness and audacity Chavez displays as one of the only leaders to step up to this cabal, and call them on their shit. People 'always' bitch when Chavez tells it like it is...was there something different this time, or was it the venue that has all these panties bunched?

16. For me, it was the venue and the occasion. There are some times when one |

must step up and be a statesman. This was like "amateur night".

people who can shape history, and he was spewing the same kind of rhetoric that we've heard from Bush.

27. Some Repug/Conservatives might think Chavez is "Coulter of the left" |
|
and might think he's "skanky" looking, too.
I don't see that but their depraved characterizations of anyone who doesn't agree with them makes them strike out in "personal terms."
Chavez to them is a "dark skinned Venezeualian" that they can characterize in whatever way they want. Coulter is a "light skinned Babi" looking for a Ken or maybe in Coulter's case...just a "FOB" (Friend of Barbi)

|
Chavez was wrong in the way he did it.
You don't stand up in front of the UN world body and make an ass of yourself.
Chavez could have and should have spoke like a true leader instead of a punk tin horn dictator.

15. I wish he'd worded his "Rant" in a way that would be more acceptable to |
|
his office. But, someone just had to say what Bush is. And aren't world leaders watching what goes on here in US and wondering why Fox News and Ann Coulter are getting so much press?
Could it be that other "Elected Officials" of lesser known "states" might think that since Bush is LOVED for his "PLAIN SPEAK/TOUGH TALK" and Coulter and the rest of the Wingers sell BOOKS BIG TIME...that "THEY" might also want to emulate Bush?
Why wouldn't they?

20. Got to admit it proves what hypocrites we Americans are. |
|
On the one one hand all they can do is tell everybody how completely worthless the UN is and nothing that happens there matters. In fact the US should just withdraw completely, "some" say! But let some leader of a Country that "Religious Leaders" in this Country have called for to be assassinated, our CIA has funded an coup against get up and make a bellicose rant against the US, remembering this is the scene of place another foreign leader pounded a shoe on a desk, we get our collective shorts in a twist.
Is the world laughing at us. If they're not, they're missing one hell of an opportunity...

23. If you need to ask what the difference is . . . |
|
If you need to ask what the difference is, then you're helping to highlight what the problem is.
Suppose Ann Coulter called Bill Clinton a womanizer. Well, he is. What we're supposed to make of that is another matter.
However, Ms. Coulter would not just call Mr. Clinton a womanizer. She might case it in some colorful language that on very rare occasions rises to witty but more often is just obnoxious, despicable bile. She might even suggest that his Satan incarnate. In a typical Ann Coulter piece, somewhere in all that colorful language one loses track of what she's talking about and it just sounds like infantile ranting. Did she write it on her computer or with a color crayon? She really hates Bill Clinton, doesn't she? Why? Let me go back to the top of the page and find out; I forgot.
If that doesn't hurt Ms. Coulter's cause enough, she also assumes that her reader will make of Mr. Clinton's foibles exactly what she does. This puts her in a position of preaching to the choir, something for which she has no one to blame but herself. She can't very well blame the MSM when her trash is put out by a major distributor of (for want of a better word) journalism. That is why I don't consider her particularly dangerous and that I believe she get entirely too much attention from DUers.
So, President Chávez called Mr. Bush the Devil? What does that mean? At the risk of being flamed by Christian fundamentalists, the Devil is a mythological embodiment of cosmic evil. It means whatever Chávez or his listener thinks it means. They don't even have to agree.
I think President Chávez would have done better to call Mr. Bush a war criminal and supported that characterization with concrete facts. In spite of what many Bush Bubbahs in this country claim, that's hardly an impossible task. If Bush is not a war criminal, why does Congress need to shield him from prosecution for war crimes? Waterboarding isn't torture? It will take an act of Congress to say that.
Let's get down to serious business here. Assuming that the election isn't stolen -- and I think this one is beyond fixing -- then we will want to convince the new Democratic majority to investigate the junta's wrongdoing. That will include the manipulation of intelligence prior to the Iraq war, violations of international humanitarian law, violations of the Fourth and Sixth Amendments and election fraud. And those investigations should go to where to where they lead. I have no doubt that the road leads to the impeachment of Bush and Cheney, as well as Rice, Rumsfeld and Gonzales; but once the first two are removed, President Pelosi need only fire the others.
Being the Devil is not an impeachable offense. We don't need to call Mr. Bush a lot of names that can't be supported by facts. We need to accuse him of war crimes and prove it.
