FOIA documents obtained by Judicial Watch on SPP (USA/Canada/Mexico)
This is in regard to the Security and Prosperity Partnership, or SPP, that has been floating around the news lately. Some, notably Jerome Corsi and Phyllis Schlafly, have alleged that our government is using the SPP to form a North American Union. I have been uneasy about their claims from the beginning (just because I profoundly distrust both of them), but now at last we have some of the source material to study. The Bush administration, of course, has been very secretive about the whole thing. There may be a clue in these documents to explain why...

U.S. Government Working Groups & Business Leaders Seek to 'Harmonize' Regulations with Canada and Mexico

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Judicial Watch, the public interest organization that promotes transparency, accountability and integrity in government, politics and the law, today released records obtained under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) from the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce concerning the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America."

On March 23, 2005, heads of government Vincente Fox, George W. Bush, and Paul Martin launched the North American partnership at a meeting in Waco, Texas, with the expressed goal of "a safer, more prosperous North America." According to the documents, the partnership's "working groups" include government and business leaders from the United States, Mexico and Canada, who are addressing a variety of topics, including movement of goods between countries, traveler security, energy, environment and health. Proponents of the partnership claim its purpose is to increase security and prosperity for all three nations through enhanced cooperation. Critics maintain the partnership will sacrifice U.S. sovereignty by establishing a "North American Union," with open borders and a common currency.

The Commerce Department also provided substantial documentation concerning the North American Competitiveness Council. The council consists of 30 members, 10 each from the United States, Mexico and Canada. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Council of the Americas "agreed to jointly lead the U.S. Secretariat." Documents describing the North American Competitiveness Council's launch, its recommendations, and meeting minutes were also uncovered by Judicial Watch's FOIA request, which was filed on August 15, 2006.

The council's recommendations to the North American "partnership" include advice on how to handle an international disease outbreak: "It is also essential that throughout a pandemic all borders and major roads remain open..." With respect to border enforcement, the council recommends that, "A reasonable grace period should be established at border crossings, during which time people lacking documents are educated about their options and allowed to pass." The council also makes recommendations on energy issues such as the "...enhanced integration of the Mexican (electricity) grid with that of the United States."

"Many Americans are interested in where this North American partnership process is going," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Given all that is at stake, the federal government has a responsibility to make sure this process is transparent and open to public scrutiny -- so the release of these documents is an important step forward."

The newly released documents include contact lists, meeting agenda and minutes, recommendations, fact sheets, speakers' quotes, action items, and procedural guidelines. The records are available on the Judicial Watch Internet site: http://www.JudicialWatch.org .

1. The "Ports to Plains" plan may be a part of that.
There is a plan to open a roadway from Mexico to Canada going up through the middle of the United States for the shipment of goods. A proposed route is through eastern Colorado. Talk about open borders. It doesn't get more open than that. The GOP contenders had better get on the anti-illegal bandwagon while it is still an issue to be milked for political gain.

4. It is said to be related. Corsi has published several articles about
it in the dreaded World Nut Daily.

Deep Integration Planned at Secret Conference Ignored by the Media
Contributed by: sthompson
Here's the scandal that should be outraging Canadians across the country. On September 12-14, elite proponents of deep integration from Canada, the U.S. and Mexico met at a secret conference at the Banff Springs Hotel. Stockwell Day, Tom d'Aquino and other high-profile Canadians were there. But the Hotel doesn't want to talk about it. No major media reported on the conference--not The Globe and Mail, not the National Post, not the Toronto Star, no one. Yet the topic of the conference, deep integration or the formation of a "North American Community" aka the North American Union, will profoundly affect everything in our lives from our health and security to the currency we use (soon to be the "Amero") to our very national identity. In essence, we will no longer be Canadians, but North Americans only--and worse, North Americans hog-tied in lock-step with the U.S. even as they gain open access to our energy resources.

Our national media stays silent and so Canadians remain unaware that their own CCCE and most powerful politicians are pushing for integration with the U.S. and Mexico completely outside of the usual democratic process. The only newspaper to report anything on this as yet is the Banff Crag & Canyon, which is publishing an article on the conference today thanks to information provided by Mel Hurtig.

See "North American Forum held in secret at Banff Springs Hotel", September 19, 2006, at http://www.banffcragandcanyon.com/story.php?id=255375 , or main link http://www.banffcragandcanyon.com.

And of course here at Vive we are ready to do our part. Below please find the secret list of participants in the forum AND the agenda for the forum, thanks to Mel Hurtig's sources.
