1. I appreciate the humor--but I worked in a hospital |
|
few will understand your cunning reference, I suspect.
BTW, there is nothing more painful to insert than a Foley. Or to remove.

2. Would you say that Foley's Foley has been DC'd??? |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 09:24 AM by clydefrand
I had surgery several years ago. One day shortly after the surgery, a nurse with a very strong southwestern Virginia twang came into my room and asked, "Has anybody DC'd your Foley?" At that time, I didn't know what a Foley was or what DC'd meant!
I still get a big chuckle just remembering this episode and my surprise at having a Foley! I knew I had a catheter, but I didn't know his name!
I told my husband the other night that Foley has finally been DC'd from D.C.! :-)

7. Foley Indwelling Catheters! The best! |
|
Disclaimer: I don't use indwelling Foley catheters, but have friends who do.
I saw a newly minted quadriplegic rip his own Foley out of himself. Pretty amazing. Although neither he nor I could have felt it (I'm a para), I still winced. Yowza.
For the uninitiated, a Foley indwelling catheter has an inflatable balloon at the tip. Once the catheter is inserted, you inject sterile water into a special fitting and inflate the catheter's tip, thus securing inside one's bladder. It "indwells" the user.
