1. The death count is way up this morning - 2728, I think.
www.icasualties.org/oif/ has all the details.

It is really awful there and has been now for months. We really need to get out troops out of there.

I don't think there was any coverage of this in the KC Star this morning - or if there was it was way back in the paper.

12. The count is now up to 2736.
I think there have been 21 soldiers killed just in October. And hundreds of Iraqis have died.

And what is the latest reason for staying there? Yesterday i heard a Republican say we have to stay because if we pull out the danger will come to our soil. Pull out of Iraq and we will be fighting the Taliban in Chicago.

Wow - how is that for logic?

3. Troops are getting sucked into the urban civil war scenario that
they talked about avoiding when this whole cluster fork started. Building to building flushing out of heavily armed enemies who do not care if they live or die.

Aside: NPR (in my area) has been doing their "tip a hat to the liberal listeners during the fund drive trick" lately. Normally I do not listen to them but do tune in a couple of times a week.

5. I've had the TV on for 2 hours this morning and nada single comment.
It's been mostly all Foley all the time...just like here at DU. They throw in a little Darfor rape and the horrible school girl shootings...nothing about Iraq though or how many good american soldiers have been KILLED in action. If you don't talk about it...it never happened. Right? bush doesn't give a damn...he'll just stay the course. Maybe he'll make some changes just before the election. He'll play politics and protect his legacy rather than for any other reason.
What a bastard!

The media is also complicit in this matter. The Administration must have suppressed the corp MSM. Why else don't they announce these deaths as something important and sound the alarm?

6. Iraq Coalition Casualty Count now reports 2729.
13 Americans and 1 British soldier have been killed so far in October. It looks like we're off to a terrible start this month. Unfortunately, there is so much other bad news happening that the Iraq disaster simply isn't getting the coverage it deserves.

9. this regime has no remorse and just does not care
about these soldiers, the count is increasing, they (this government) are systematically killing off our sons/daughters/mothers/fathers/uncles for their own sick PNAC plan. Nothing on TV and it's business as usual, what sick sick bastards this regime are.

10. I doubt any of them even know the daily numbers.
I don't think Bush cares one iota about those kids. Just collateral damage. Just a "number." War is just a "comma."

It is despicable.
