I'm only halfway through it and he is so absolutely RIGHT ON.

All these cons attacking each other, all the closeted forbidden behavior - it's all textbook behavior of Double High authoritarians. This is entirely predictable, it WILL happen again and again. Most likely in the Republican party because it has been taken over by authoritarians. There are very few, if any, liberal or Democratic authoritarians.

The bad news is we'll see more of this type of behavior as long as these Double High authoritarians continue to get elected.

The worse news is the authoritarian personality, left unchecked, is dangerous to democracy.

There is no good news, other than now we know who we are dealing with, we can identify them, and predict how they will act, and therefore defeat them.

While others of our "favorite" books are exhausting in detail, this relatively slim volume elegantly states the main undercurrent of all we see from day to day. It is devastating along with being a very good read, grounded in history.

My goodness, that is a long one. Yes John Dean does a great job of laying it out without going into the 750-1000 page range.
