Federal budget deficit drops to $250 Billion
This was a surprise to me. With Iraq war costing $100 Billion
annually, I was expecting deficit to go up, not down.

1. And on top of that the rich got a big tax-cut, further increasing deficits
My guess is if and when the economy slows down, deficits
will explode.

2. Bush Deficit cut is not paying bills -budget is cash basis -unpaid doesn't
count

So next year deficit will hit 400b

3. Isn't Iraq off the books?
I think that I read that the supplementals haven't been counted in the budget. (probably wrong, but maybe someone can confirm or deny)

5. Some Iraq never "counts" in Budget PR number - but this is result
number and has result of actual cash spent in Iraq

But things like funding for Iraq 100b reconstruction and Katrina and no child left behind education money are not yet paid off in cash - and didn't happen in most cases - so they show up as "zero"

Other items are put on the bar tab - to be paid later - and again do not how up. It is these last items that will show up next year - post election - to the tune of about 100b making next years deficit 400b+

To be blamed on the Dem Congress if we get one - with no defense provided by the media - and to be not spoken of by the media if we get a GOP Congress.
